Cracking work on the etch on the Island Julian.

Looking very good indeed

Si

Hi Simon,
sorry, missed your mail this morning.
Thanks, think I'm beginning to get the hang of photo etch and the balances of using Gator grip glue, CA, water, CA accelerator and CA de-bonder. Not there yet but it's improving.
Cheers,
julian

April 17th update:
Island has main layer of paint on, (still detailing and clean up to come, not to mention a lot of windows ). First decals on, more to follow. This is a sneak preview sort of thing I am very happy with the way the "Gray Lady" is progressing:

Still a long, long way to go yet
Cheers,
Julian

This is coming nice along, Julian. The decals and PE really add to the appearance. Any new infos on the Sea Sparrow screens?

April 21st update:

Mrs. Gremlin 56 suggested a quick Spring clean for my workspace
I really can't imagine why I would need to clean up here, everything is carefully placed and squeaky clean :

Work on the island is still underway, care needs to be taken when fitting the fore mast frame and the signal flag catwalks: these fit into each other so add the railings first, ( fun parts ).

Still a lot of touching up to do yet, (yes I have seen some of the windows )

Cheers,
Julian

I know about that, Mrs. tribun also complaines about my workspace everytime, but I think it is perfect.

Nice work on this "island", Julian.

Thanks Daniel,
doesn't look like much progress but there is a lot of work detailing the island with railings etc.
Cheers,
Julian

It`s not really my favourite either Mardis, but its a rather glaring omission if you skip it. Mark pointed out ez-line for rigging ships which makes life a lot easier. Why don't you give that a try?

Julian

I thought Ezyline was the go as well until I actually got some. Hasn't anyone else noticed that the diameter changes all the time? Makes the rigging look all wrong to me.. But that is my opinion... and this is not my model..

Looking really good Julian.

April 30th update:
Progress has been a little slow, mainly because I was lead astray by this little guy:

I have done some work on the Wasp though, having finished a set of Cobra's to go on deck. Work is also underway on the main mast:

Cheers,
Julian
