Hello Julian, the LCAC's look great. They're neat little models all by themselves. Al

Thanks Al, they are fun to build and if you like the LCACs you will love the tiny M60s and Abrams tanks I am building as a load for the transports.
This build moves from micro-build to micro-build.
Great "Bangs for the Bucks", ( er, or in this case Euros).
Cheers,
Julian

Hello Julian
I have been following your build for a while now, since I'm also building the Wasp. I have to admit that my progress is a bit slower than yours though... I started on the LCUs and LCACs and have just resently started working on the main hull. This brings up my question. What size of I-beams did you use on the well deck overhead? This is something I want to do with my own kit.

And some progress pics from me

More in progress pics here

Regards
Erik

Hi Erik, my compliments on a fantastic job you are doing there ! beautiful craftmanship and excellent weathering Where did you get side armour in 1/350th for the Amtracks? Looks like you brush painted the vehicles but the effect and finish is great
The I beams are Evergreen # 272 2 mm i-beams.
Cheers,
Julian

Thank you for a very quick answere, Julian.

The AAVs and desert colored Abrams are acctually GHQ 1/285 scale vehicles. They were airbrushed. The vehicles on the LCU and LCAC were airbrushed NATO green and then the black and brown camoflage were handpainted with Vallejo.

Great work Erik, you are building a more "real life" version than I am, the LCAC is more accurate on a lot of points than mine. Nice to see "someone else's version"
Drop a line when you have an update, I am curious to see how your build progresses
Cheers,
Julian

Nice work on the LCU and LCAC. The island is getting even better with every detail you add.

Thanks Mark, that happens to be about what Mrs. Gremlin56 said:
where the hell are you going to put that? There is no room for another plank, the sauna is full of previous builds and the attic is filled to bursting with your stash
I think she just might have a point there.................................................................

Julian

If you don't have enough room for your models, it is obvious that your wife has too much stuff, and she should get rid of some of it! Al

Looking great Julian, the subtle washing on the armour & the trucks really lifts out the detail.

Thank you Simon,
Mig's brown wash for desert yellow. Never fails to do the trick. Burnt umber oil wash is a bit too pronounced for this

Julian

I hate to spoil your nefarious scheme, but you couldn't possibly get me in more trouble with my wife than I can manage all by my lonesome. Al

^ ^ this. I think that's a problem every man has... I'm going to have a flat together with my girlfriend for the first time in autumn. She always says: "You can only bring three of the display cases you now have. Basta."

I am the exception to the rule by the look of it as my wife is always encouraging me in my modelling. And I have a 9 x 6 metre shed to fill with my stash if I want...
