Looks like a challenge to mate the two accessories, but it works out in the end.
Looking great Simon.
Cheers

Warren, it is fun mix and matching accessories, and does need that bit more planning. I am also using the Master turned brass masts and yards, the masts being in one section rather than the two of the kit is going to take some modification of the fighting tops, (This is also why the wheelhouse roof has not been glued down yet) but I think they will be worth it.

More progress with the boats, Assembly of the etched Davits, 5 parts to each.

Starboard boats all fitted.

The light guns under the bridge wings have solid chunky mounts, which from the pics I have found look wrong, so with a bit pf old funnel grating and a spare lifering:-

a new, maybe not totally accurate, but closer mount has been fabricated,

More soon

Beautiful work with the light guns, Simon. It is little touches like that that make a model stand out. Your Varyag is looking great!

Thanks Tim,

I am quite pleased with those mounts. Have to say I have got some good ideas from following your Olympia build.

Finally all the major boats are on.

Plus a couple of little platforms on the maindeck I should have put on earlier in the build.

The boats still need quite a bit of rigging, but I am leaving that for a bit, and get on with the bridge. The legs and the cross bracing have been added.

And the bridge and turned brass foremast added.

Didn't notice till I posted the pic how much the flash shows up the beginings of a touch up to some damage to the paint job on starboard bow, that will need more work than I thought.

Looking very good there Simon,a light dust with the trusty airbrush should solve the problem near the starboard bow.
Cheers,
Julian

Managed to get a good session in Sunday afternoon.

Bridge roof fitted rear section of bridge railings on.

The rest of the bridge railings on, a rare glitch from WEM the section for the fromt of the bridge came up short.

railings for the monkey island bent to shape, very fragile, but managed to get there.

and fitted, along with searchlights and compass.

Thanks Russell, appreciate your kind comment.

Still quite a bit to do yet though, after bridge, platforms & yards on foremast, all of the mainmast, 4 main guns, casemate guns and the Rigging, don't think I have forgoten anything.

Thanks Mark,

Was doing a bit over the weekend, will post some pics later, after bridge nearly done. Was about to start rigging the boats and realised I had mede a schoolboy error, forgot to add winch drums to the davits!

The falls are very prominent down the back of the Davit, and must be shown, but I have nothing to connect them too at dexck level.

Bit of Hiatus since the last update.

The boat rogging is progressing, all the falls are in place and the boats just need connecting to them.

Work on the foretop.

The moulded detail removed & the etched structure constructed.

Test fitted, I did not notice till I had downloaded the pics, the foremast has developed a lean foward, I will rectify that later.

Painted & in place, just needs the guns adding (and straightening up)

Looking good Simon,
you have to be aware of the real size of the model to appreciate the work you are putting into her. Even in 1/350th scale this is not a big ship.
Compliments sir!
cheers,
Julian
