I assume a submarine does not fit within the rules of this campaign?
Sorry Samuel, but no, a sub wouldn't fit in this one. Thanks for asking!

A small update after getting my computer back from the repair shop have nearly finnished the chevy truck and made an attempt at one of the Wee freind figures I have. I have tried to add some extra detail to the wheel house copying from Warrens build and have managed to get some bolt heads from Meng to add to the launcher tubes

Here are my start up photos for the Torpedo Boat campaign.
I'm going to try the Italeri 1/35 scale MTB.

Hope to finish on time.

It's has been a busy end of year (work and modelling altogether); now it's the time for laying the keel of my WEM Fairmile. I planned to have a pair of opposing boats (MTB vs.schnellboot a la Osprey) but not all the plans come together...
Happy New Year, fair winds and following seas to all!

Cheers all. Will finally start my entry into the campaign. Will do one of Mirage's 1:400 German torpedo boats of the V 101-106 class. I have to retake the sprue pics, managed to screw up the pic file transfer from cam to computer. Cheers

Well this campaigns has a curse on me. I p/u up the Vosper last summer after the 109. I figured I'd start with the Vosper as it was less complicated. After I got into the box I decovered that there were 4 broken parts. No problem, just get a hold of M.R.C. with the paper work and I'll be O.K.. Well it took 6 months to get 2 out of 4 and I had p/u the P.T. boat conversion set, 2 of them and saw that both kits had the I.F.F. antenas broken. Still waiting for them but now Italeri want pictures of them in the box which I had already cut off the sprue to fix. Not as easy as it looks. But then along came the P.T. boat campaign, so I signed on. So last month I started to build the Vosper and forgot to take the required pic's. So now I have some work done. If I get bounced from the campaign, well that's how it goes. Any way, I opened the engine room ahtch and built up a deck with the ribs and bulkhead along with the bow storage locker. As I looked at the open hatch with the cover sitting in place I noticed that it was a pretty big open space which has to be filled. So of to E-bay where I got ahold of 2 P-40E's so I can build up a some what looking pair of marine packard engines. So they should be here this month some time. Then one of the P/E parts from the torpedo tubes snaped off and went flying to the carpet monster. Not too bad as I found it 2 days later after I tried to scratch one to look as good as the other which was not about to happen. So now I wonder if forgetting to take the pic's leave me in or out. I guess it's up to Michael. The only kit parts together at this point are the tubes, dust bin halves, air intake halves, the canvas covers and horn on the wheel house top and some scratch built add on stuff. So it's up to you Michael? I can send pic's of the progress so far through my friend if a determination is needed.

Bob,
Given that we started 5 months ago and you would have gotten far more done in that time than you have, I'll give you a pass. Let's see how you do now!

Hey Michael, I do appriciate it. Between the waiting on Italeri and the pills I wasn't sure if I would even get her out of drydock, lol. I have a few pic's that I sent to my friend Al, a.k.a. taffy3, and he will see if his ITT guy, his son Matt, can get them posted for me. Computer is very slow and when it comes to posting pic's, no matter what method I use they never come out or make it to the post; so we'll see. Meanwhile, I will be working to install the 3rd rudder modification the British added which will be made all the easier thanks to Julian Sallows, a.k.a. gremlin56, from the great and friendly cross channel adversaies build that has been going on at the same time, who was kind enough to part with the stern plane and support brackets. Will start the wheel house brush painting tonight. Dam the torpedos, full speed ahaed!

A big thank you to Al (taffy3) and his (our) ITT guru Matt. Would probably have toss the computer out the window if I had to try posting pic's again. I don't know what drives me nuts faster or futher; the computer, the wife or working on the car, lol. Anyway, I am progressing slowly but surely on this kit and really enjoying it more than I have in a long time. Brought me out of my build slump. After working on a Pacific Marine dio and adding the leave one at a time I needed to get away from green for a bit. The forward storage compartment needs to be weathered and coiled rope put in place. Working on the I guess and by god method. Have not found any pic's of the area there so I don't know for sure if it is 100% correct, anyone who knows better is welcome to chime in. Still wondering if there was a ladder into the area or not, and was wondering if the moring line was just droped into the locker or was there a hook of some type so a sailor could just reach in and grab it,? I cut open the engine room hatch just to be different and though O.K, not a big hole, surprise though. So the search for suitable engines was on. I have settled on 2 Allisone aircraft engines with some moified parts and cooling hoses, instrument pannels ect. Something is better than an open space. I purchased an old Revell P-40E from E-bay and have to bid on another today. Hopefully I'll have the 2nd one on the way tomarrow. The engine room and storage locker where placed as carefully as I could figure from pic's from many books, looks about right to me. I installed the decks 1st and then ribed them out. I have noticed that some Vosper pic's show a walkway to the bow and some don't. I went without the passageway, a bit easier. So when the engines get here I will lay down the metal brckets, install the engines and piping/wires ect and hope to find/bash together a motor mac looking up the hatchway. That's the plan but it is always up to change before the main deck is installed. Thanks to Julian, I have the a 3rd rudder P/E for the planes and will be adding that this week. I wont be installing the props or shafts because it will be in a diorama eventually and they wont show; but they will be on pallets on the dock for the story when done. I P/U D.M.L.'s S.A.S. jeep for the twin and single Vickers to add on the torpedo tubes and a 20M.M. on the forward deck, with the splinter shield around it. Also will add the U.S. rader from the P.T. boat Acc. set. I want my boat to be an early war horse that has gone through modifications through out the war and survived. So, that's the plan. And a extra large thank you to everyone that has helped with advise, parts conversation and sending me down the paths of refferance for this project. bob d.

1 Revell P-40E has arrived at the fantazy factory. Waiting to final bid (on #2 bird) this Saturday and hope that it will end up here also. Now the conversion to make it look like a Packard marine engine suitable for the viewing pleasure of anyone who'll look into the open hatch.

2nd P-40 kit has been purchased so the engine room is going to happen. Now to find Verlindens 3 figure set of mechanics in coveralls; one will end up being the motor mac. Ever so slowly, but I see the whole thing coming together.

Hey Michael, Just putting all the pic's I found for the engine together and it doesn't look too hard. You'll only see the back of the two front engines so I don't have to be exact. The instument pannels and cooling lines will cover a lot as they are overhead of the engine, but you'll see a kinda looks like it engine. I also plan on putting the motor mac at the bottom of the ladder looking up to another rating shouting down to him. I just hope that after all the research and cost of the p-40's, and build time that I can do some kind of justice to the compartment. Top side is just a bunch of sub assemblies at this point. Can't really do much till the deck is down for good. Hopefully today the other p-40 will arrive. Some tubing and bolts and then the craddles and I'll be off and running. bob d.
