Not much progress on the Moskva while I wait for the pe to turn up however I did put some paint down.

There is a little Typ VII U-boat beside her (Russian he or she?) to give a size comparison.

So while I waited my fingers got itching to do something so I broke out one of my favourite looking ships, the Kirov.

Here's where I'm at, lots of sub assemblies and a WEM pe set is being used (had this in the stash for some time) oh the little Typ VII is back in the photo. I've modified the hanger as the real one takes three Helix side by side were the kit only allows one, I will have three on this ship, one in the hanger, one beside the opening and one on the pad.

Beautiful work so far Luciano! On both! Nothing wrong with keep the guys on the dock busy while they wait for the paint to dry!

Thanks Si and Todd, Si didn't know it but I've some how started collecting naval caps

Any way back to the Kirov, some of the superstructure has been painted grey and assembled to the deck others are still test fitted so as to allow me to detail paint. Base and hull are drilled and provisional mounts loosely fitted, I have some used .22LR cases which if I can get them drilled I'll use as mounts although still keeping the brass tube running through them. Next step is the boot topping and hull grey. So here is a photo of where I'm at so far, most of the superstructure is just test fitted.

Very brief history of the Kirov
The lead ship, Kirov (renamed Admiral Ushakov in 1992 after the dissolution of the Soviet Union) was laid down in June 1973 at Leningrad's Baltiysky Naval Shipyard, launched on 27 December 1977 and commissioned on 30 December 1980. When she appeared for the first time in 1981, NATO observers called her BALCOM I (Baltic Combatant I).

Kirov suffered a reactor accident in 1990 while serving in the Mediterranean Sea. Repairs were never carried out, due to lack of funds and the changing political situation in the Soviet Union. She is due to be scrapped in 2016.

Kirov

That's a 6" rule (150mm) for size.
