Tim,

The dry transfers look great. It is amazing how a detail such as the flight deck lines really bring a model together. Si used the same method on his Indy and the result was incredible.

Love watching as you progress through your build. If I may ask, what color did you use to paint your linoleum decks?

thanks

Dave

For Troy:

For the shading/grime, I used a combination of MIG black wash and MIG pigments. The wash was applied generously, followed by a wipes with Qtips dampened in thinner, then in some areas I added a some pigment and removed that too until I got the look I was looking for. (or at least the look I was trying for )The wash also imparts a decent finish to the panels overall.

I'm going to give this a try on my next project. Thanks Tim!

Tim,

I don't have any experience with dry transfer so far, but your flight deck looks absolutely sharp!! Great work! I have to repeat myself, this is an absolutely stunning model!!

- but is it only me who can't see the pictures in the build log any longer?
I could see your update yesterday (but did not log on to comment...) and today they are replaced by some photo bucket adds for more bandwidth. This icons I can click and than get to your pictures...

Dave,

thanks for your answer, it will be something with the local provider I believe, had some trouble yesterday evening and it's pretty slow today. Good to know the site is all right!

Tim,

great to have your build log back and in full color - due to some magic, all your other pics are back on line as well - so from Todd's explanation I would say your 'bandwidth-period' was just renewed...it's painful anyway.
I use photo bucket as well, so at least I am warned...

Your flight deck looks great!!

Cheers,
Jan

Thanks guys! I found I was able to speed up the process a bit once I got used to them a little. Dry transfers sure give a different look, but one I like for this application as you can slightly see the wood of the deck coming through the line, as you would on the real thing. You have to look close to see it, but its there

Alternatively, masking/airbrushing the straight lines would be doable I think, but I sure wouldn't want to try to do that middle figure in the pic below with tape/airbrush

LOL...would be a fun trick to mask it off Tim! Not impossible but definitely patience draining for sure!! The transfers do look excellent!!

Hey thanks Todd... and I'm enjoying working with them more as well!

Tried some of the larger transfers and got the stern deck almost finished:
