Hi Tim!

I concur with Jan, and am quite speechless...

Words cannot describe how good your work is!

I too cannot look in daily, but your PE props just seem that little bit finer.

Keep your chin up, you're nearly there now, and after reaching the finish line crack open a few and reset the batteries by doing something nice and simple.

You guys are terrific and REALLY appreciate the support. Thank-you very much!!

I thought I'd try adding some antennas:

And I'm going to do some bomb carts for the deck...here's my first one:

Tim,

The antennea and bomb area a great touch. Would never have thought to add the antennea to the planes.

Will keep that in my tool kit. What did you use for the antennea?

Thanks gentlemen!...and for the antennas I used a tiny peice of brass and some stretched sprue. Talk about small attachment points...where the sprue meets the attenna stalk is quite small.

I had a request for more info about those bomb carts...so here's some pics:

Cheers, TJ

Thanks Todd! Eye candy...I like that term

Anyway, just a small update today:

Starting to add the external antennas...this was the easiest one, so a good place to start, right?

Cheers to all and thanks for looking! -Tim

Thanks again Jan! I sure do appreciate your continued support buddy.

Second external attenna:

I see that the bar on top of the flagstaff got tilted back a bit...I'll have to fix that.

Tim

Excellent results with the final detailing. Is that stretched spruce your using for the antennas?

Looking forward to your continued progress. The finish line is close. Hang in there

Hi guys and thanks...Dave, yes its stretched sprue BUT in looking at the pictures of the latest antenna above (I find I see details much better in closeup pictures) I noticed that some of the stretched sprue rigging was of differing diameters/too thick and unpleasing to the eye. So I removed the strands from the flagstaff to the upper antenna and the ones between the two lower antennas... and I find I am still left with decent antennas and rigging. I think I'll leave them like this.

I think that looks better...anyway, onto the large side folding antennas which will be my next update. Thx for looking, Tim

Tim,

the standards you are setting for yourself are just incredibly high!! - but you're right, comparing the two pics, the sprue you pointed out is slightly thicker. I would not have noticed without you pointing at it, and I never got this stretching sprue thing working for me...

I agree your last pic looks great, would leave ist as is

Cheers

hehe...you have no idea Todd I have NOT been looking forward to doing these the whole build. The longer runs of stretched sprue especially were a challenge to attach, keep straight and aligned.

I have both side done now...and yes, a BIG sigh of relief!

The airplanes are not permantently installed yet, thats coming up next so be sure to check back! Cheers and thx for viewing! -Tim

Very tidy rigging on the aerials Tim, and he full flight deck looks first class.

Really enjoying following this build.

Thanks very much Dave, Si and Micheal! And Tony: no plans for little sailors...but that may change, who knows?

Island-mounted side antenna now has 4 cables (added 2 more since previous pic)...its difficult to get the camera to focus on these, sorry for fuzziness.

And starting the waterline-to-deck ladder accesses for attaching to the outside main hull:

Tim,

I can almost physically feel you're relief on having those areas finished!!! Great work, again, just amazing your skills with the stretched sprue!

At some point you must be careful that you reserve some little spaces on the ship that allow you to safely handle your model without doing any harm to it, the amount of detail you are adding all around is just incredible!

Fantastic work, I can't stop looking at your pictures!

Cheers,
Jan

Great work Tim.

Jan has the right of it, there cannot be many places safe to handle her by.

The is a great build log, really enjoying your attention to detail and perseverance with the epic build.

Hi Tim!

Exceptional work. I concur with Jan and Si-not many places left to handle her without risking damage. Time to mount her on a base?
