Si,

I'm in with the Admiral Hipper.

Now if only I can figure out how to sneak it into the house without my wife finding out????

I'll enter with my stalled Prinz Eugen Si.

The late start in the year will give me a chance to limp home to the finish line on the KGV for the battleship campaign.

Was thinking bout your 10month build time for DOY and remembering that it took me 16months to finish the Jeremiah O'Brien! If it took me that long for something as basic as a cargo ship, who knows how long it will take for me to finish something as complex as the KGV!

My hat off to you for finishing the DOY in 10 months!

All in all, your campaign rules for cruisers sounds pretty good!

Si, you can count me in, as to what I'll be building that'll depend on if I can get the AM sets but as it stands it's either the Belfast, Tone, Indy (premium kit) or San Fran.
There is also an outsider in the Graf Spee which if I do him, I'll attempt to do in one its disguises with false funnel.

As it goes Graf and Indy are ready to go, San Fran has pe set but no deck while the last two lack everything except the kit. Anybody want to pick which one they want me to build out of those listed.

Thanks guys,

I have submitted the proposal to the "management".

Hopefully they will come back with a positive response.

Nice idea Luciano, must admit I like the idea of the Graf in disguise.

I will be in with a battlecruiser. A year is probably about the right amount of time to complete it.

cheers

Si,

your setting sounds perfect to accommodate a slow builder with not all that much workbench-time available, that's great!!

So - count me in!!

Looking at the enlistments and proposed cruisers so far, my considerations have now become a decision, it will be Trumpi's 1/350 Belfast for me, with my usual range of various aftermarket stuff.
Luciano, reading your proposals, I take it that Belfast was not your No 1 subject anyway? And I agree, Graf Spee in her late outfit with disguise is something seldom seen, so this would be great. Trump's Graf Spee is a nice kit to build, I did it some time ago but without second funnel etc.., so I would love to see you approach the Graf!

Starting 1 August should allow me to finish Repulse and get some first work on the Belfast done in order to finish in time!!

OK I'll go with the Graf Spee, I'm happy with this choice

Hi Jan,

Belfast was not my number one choice mainly as apart from a set of Master main guns I don't have a upgrade/correction set yet, although by August that would change. I would like to get the Graf done, the one I have is the Academy premium kit which I managed to get a bit cheaper. I have a couple of books which highlight the camo scheme and the false 'Bruno' turret and funnel and also the flip down sign which was on the conning tower, so for this I can have some fun although painting a sign in German in 1/350 may be a bit much

I also have a resin Iron Shipwrights HMS Ajax but I'm not ready for that, just yet.

I'll join with the Academy Indy Premium, Im worried about my tendency to rebuild everything on such a complex ship (much more serious than the Reuben James) but Simon has given us plenty of time. Now to get one on the cheap.

Luciano, want to send me yours?

Great stuff guys, some cracking sounding builds.

I have the Prinz and the Scharnhorst 1/350 ready to go, as Russ has the Prinz under way I will probably plump for the Scharnorst, unless something else catches my eye.

Well guys since I help float this idea I have to get in as well. I have several options in 1/350 and 1/700. I hope some AM stuff comes out for the Belfast in 1/350 and a detail book on her is due out by August. In 1/700 I have the Pittsburg, the Atlanta, the Long Beach and the Chicago. There is plenty of time to decide.

I'm glad I could sign on for another tour.

Great choice Keith, That once certainly brings back memories. Will be interested to see that with Pete's update set.

Glad to have you aboard Tom, as another of instigators of this idea, some interesting sounding options.

As much as I like the Belfast the odd look of the ships the 1960s produced with the introduction of missles is quite unique.

Good choice Tom,

I have always had a particular soft spot for the early missile cruisers, especially those rebuilt from gun cruisers.

I am in, if I can find my old matchbox kits. Obviously sacrificing some details and maybe accuracy, but it will be a nice stroll down memory lane.

Looking forward to it.

Tom, Flyhawk do a detail set for the Belfast and Master do a brass gun barrel set which also corrects the layout of the guns in the turret. If you can get it WEM did a pe set and a correction set for the funnels and compass platform which we can only hope Tom's will release soon.

Now I have the colour scheme ready and checked out the kit I'm itching to go on the Graf, how long we got to wait?
Do need to get some replacement single 20mm guns though.

Hi everyone.

I used the WEM PE set in the build I did for this site so do a search and it should come up.

I also have a spare WEM PE set that they sent me when the first one was found lacking re some over-etched items, the funnel and turret set, but no kit as yet. Waiting for them to come on special somewhere as mine went to a museum a few months ago..

I have heaps of other cruisers though so I will be in for this. Maybe I can build a Japanese one beside the Akagi I am currently toiling away on.

Cheers
