Cracking looking etch set Keith, Mad Pete at his best, am looking forward to seeing that going on the Exeter.

Glad to have you along Warren,

I have the Belfast hanging around. Pontos have her on their list, I think I will hang for a while to see of that materialises.

Too bad i didn't see the proposal before starting my Indianapolis i would have built her for this. Maybe if they do it i can grab the san fran and run her in a dio with the independence and frank knox, not sure if all three ships together is historically accurate but would look cool i think.

Si I've just ordered the Flyhawk set for the Belfast, that comes with the corrected funnels and compass platform, still going with the Graf for the campaign though.

I'll have a look at what I have, but I'm thinking of doing an IJN light cruiser. Some of those were very smart looking ships.

Thanks Si, I'll be waiting. I'm really leaning toward the Dragon Long Beach. That long lean look and jack in the box superstructure always appealed to me. Now next full hull or waterline. I may even try an at sea base. Oh no I've been corrupted by the dark side.

muuust build something with tracks

Tom

I was a die hard armor fan at one time and do at times like to dabble but the challenge presented with ship building has taken over. So I know how you feel. Welcome to the watery dark side my friend

Nice choice Tom,

Great mean looking ship, and a great little kit, my last 1/700th build.

Hmmmm, If I can get me Blyskawica done by the end of April, I'd love to use my Heller Admiral Scheer for this!

Si,

I do believe I have changed my mind regaridng my Cruiser submission. I think I am going to remain on my IJN line of ships so depending on the deal I get I will either be going with the Heavy Cruiser IJN Mogami 1942 or the Light Cruiser IJN Noshiro. I am leaning towards the Light Cruiser since I already have the Maya and the Chokia in the stash.

We will see.

Hopefully the approval is received soon. Looking forward to this campaign.

Nice choice Michael,

Pre or post refit?

Good stuff Dave,

I do like those big Japanese Cruisers, could do damage to my wallet at Southern Expo this weekend.

Hoping to get the go-ahead very shortly.

I like the red turret tops myself, the splash of color is very eye catching.

For myself I am going with the Long Beach.

Si does anyone make a detail set for it. Rails look like a must.

Thomas,

I lean towards the red turret tops, too.

Which kit are you planning on using for the Long Beach? Flyhawk makes a PE set for the 1/700 Dragon kit of the Long Beach.

Had a look in the stash and found a Fujimi Haguro. I think I'll build that.

Love their funky forward turret arrangement. Is that a waterline kit?

Yes waterline 1/700, although I believe Fujimi have also released a full-hull version.
The IJN heavy cruisers make for great subjects with all those unusual turret layouts. I'm looking forward to building this one.

Lutzow sounds good Todd, the Flyhawk kit does look a bit tasty.

Getting into the Japanese cruiser, Stephen, some really cool designs.

Great choices Guys.
