Hi Guys,
17 enlisted now, looking good.
Whilst I am here I never designed a campaign ribbon before, what is the best method?

I relied on the kindness of others.
Randy Harvey (HARV) did the Battle of the Atlantic one when I asked because he had done several ribbons for campaigns.

Si I may have a change of ship but we'll see nearer the time as I have just ordered the Kombrig 1/350 WWI HMS Kent.
Two ships, two different world wars, taking part in battles in the same area.

So want the WWII HMS Kent County class cruiser

Hi Luciano,
Great kit, I hope you enjoy the build.
Agree with you and Jan, we could do with a WW2 county, mind as there were three sub groups, and within the sub groups there were noticeable differences between the ships by the outbreak of the war.
If you could have one county which one would it be?
Although I grew up in Kent, I would go for HMS Norfolk, the hunt for the Bismarck, and the battle of North cape (Only changes between 1941 & 43 appear to be radars, directors and light AA)

Si that's an easy one for me, let's see Monmouth class check, County class cruiser check, County class destroyer check and a Type 23 check all by the same name, HMS Kent. Three are available in 1/350 just missing the County class cruiser.
However there have been eleven ships to bare the name Kent plus one that was cancelled on the slips, the first was launched as the Kentish frigate in 1652 but renamed Kent in 1660.
Why I like the Kent? No idea, the only thing I can put it down too is reading the exploits of Kent during the Battle of the Falkland Islands, were although the slowest of her class when launched, she became the fastest in her chase of the Nürnberg even to the extent that she overtook the battlecruisers.

Which County? Got to be either Suffolk or Norfolk. While I really admire Norfolk for her part in Bismark and Scharnhorst actions I've always kind of liked the cut down rear hull of Suffolk.
While we're on the subject of cruiser wish lists how about this? Dragon, please, please, PLEASE, scale up your 1/700 Atlanta class AA cruiser to 1/350 scale. Heck you could probably reuse so many parts like twin gun turrets, AA guns, torpedo tubes, depth charges, etc from your many destroyer kits and use them on the Atlanta. Or Juneau, I'm easy. If you really, really have to you can even include some German markings for her as a what if.

Hi Luciano,
True, it is the missing 20th century HMS Kent, would be my second choice after HMS Norfolk. Although she was unique amongst the RN Kent class in not having the big hanger fitted, may be possible to get HMAS Australia or Canberra out of the kit, not 100% of the differences) Norfolk would give the option of Dorsetshire as they were full sisters, third choice would be rebuild HMS London.
Hi Rodger,
HMS Suffolk would be another good choice, there would be a good chance of getting HMS Cumberland, also had the cut down quarterdeck and big hanger.
Agree would be great to have a couple of Atlantas, great looking AA cruisers.

Si, Rodger, I would like to say that apart from a County class (Kent) an Atlanta would also be welcome followed by Town, Leander, Dido, Colonies, war modified 'C' & 'D' classes plus Cleveland, Omaha and Baltimore classes and any Italian other than that very poor Hobby Boss Pola. Oh let's not forget something French, Dutch and Russian.
To any manufactures that may be looking.
We have most German and Jap cruisers so let's have the rest of the Allied and other nations cruisers now in injection plastic.

Hi Luciano,
Agreed, would certainly like to see more Allied Cruisers in plastic, preferably RN, but any would be welcome.

I would love to see the 3 ships that took on Graf Spee myself, Exeter, Ajax and Achilles. A Cleveland class light cruiser or the Savannah class with the 5 turrets would also be nice. A 1/350 Baltimore would also hit the spot.
As for a ribbon we should pick the most familiar cruiser silhouette we agree on against a back ground color to be named later though blue for the navy might work.

Id say the Belfast, she has a good silhoutte, two stacks, 4 big guns, kind of stumpy and strange. I think for a outline the important thing is that it look different than a battleship.
If someone could point me to a tutorial I wouldnt mind taking a crack at the ribbon, im pretty good at Adobe Illustrator.

Bill, Trumpeter do a 1942 San Francisco, and several Jap cruisers are available. ISW do a resin County class (Norfolk-Dorsetshire sub class) which you may be able to make into the Australia or Canberra, I've not seen the contents of the kit so I don't know if it can be done.
Side note, I'll be using the San Fran to convert into the Nasty Arsty for the Guadalcanal campaign.

I would like to see CB Alaska and Guam in a plastic kit. The only versions I know to be available are the expesive Yankee Model Work Resin kits.

Hi Guys,
Quite a wish list, I wouldn't mind all of it in my loft!
Don't think Canberra or Australia is a goer from the ISW Norfolk, Firstly the main turrets were spaced slightly differently with respect to the superstructure in the later groups, and secondly the Aussie pair were somewhat different from the RN "Kents".
For the ribbon, I like the idea of a silhouette against a blue background. easily Identifiable cruisers, RN I am thinking:- County, Leander or Dido, USN:- Atlanta, Portland, Cleveland, Guam. Kriegsmarine:- Scharnhorst, Hipper. IJN, Mogami, Tone or Tama, Italy:- Pola.
Comments or other ideas welcome.

Luciano, I didndt know that, can't wait to see them released
Seems the wish list never gets smaller, it only expands to the bursting point
Thanks for the info

Ok, I'm signed up for the campaign. I've got a question. I've seen mention needing to post some picture of the kit not started, or started to meet the minimum standards. Do I need to hold up the kit with today's paper to prove it or what?
Now I just need to decide what to make. I've got four cruisers in the stash: Trumpy 1942 San Francisco, Trumpy 1945 Indianapolis, Revell Emden, and Italeri, which I understand is really an ex Dragon, Gettysburg. I don't really consider that last one a cruiser. I'm leaning towards the Emden as I'm thinking of using the San Fran for the Guadalcanal campaign.
