Thanks Mark,

It has not been the easiest kit to work with, but it has been fun.

Thanks Dave,

I have learned a lot from the process.

Thanks Jan,

It has been an interesting journey.

Just the Jack and Ensign staffs, and the ensigns to go, and she will be finally finished.

Cheers for the support.

It is much appreciated.

Just catching up with several blogs I've been following. Splendid job, Si. I love the look of these bathtub-hulled old battle wagons.

Thanks Michael,

Must admit the more unusual the better for me.

This has been an interesting build, and I am quite looking forward to finishing it, if I can get some time in the workshop this weekend.

Cheers.

Borodino looks great! Congratulations on a job well done. I have already bought sister ship Suvorov. Otherwise, this build thread of yours would have heavily influenced me to buy the Borodino. Much like what the Varyag thread did. Now, I only wish I am as prolific as you in producing ship models.

Thanks Joseph,

Appreciate you looking in, I am pleased you have found my builds useful.

This kit may be old and a bit on the basic side, but it was a lot less painful than I had expected, although I would liked a bit more etch, but that's just me.

Cheers.

Simon,
Fantastic effort. The old battlewagons are something different and you've done a great job on this one.

Thanks Michael,

They are, and particularly the Russian & French designs with their prominent tumblehomes and turrets poking out from under bits of superstructure.

|Makes them real fun to build.

Cheers.

The last bits to go on, the ensigns.

In place,

Finished.

There she is, took the final pics outside as the light was good.

This has been an interesting ride, and I will do something as mad as this again, if not madder.

Cheers.

She looks great Si. If I were a 1/350 scale Czarist Russian, I'd definitely enlist!

Thanks Jan,

Appreciate your support along the way.

I have enjoyed this challenge a lot, the next mad one may be a worse kit, or ramping up the detail, or even both, don't know yet.

Currently just enjoying a commissioning

Cheers

Thanks Tim,

She is a bit of recruiting poster, pity the real ones were a bit less well kept.

Thanks Todd,

Glad you enjoyed the journey, I did enjoy the commissioning party.

Thanks Dave,

The journey would not have been so much fun without the support of you guys following along.

Thanks Mark,

I am very happy with the result, these old kits can be a real challenge, but that is the fun of the hobby.

Cheers for the support guys.

Hi Simon
What an excellent build you've created. Looks really outstanding. I've been following this, since I've done this kit myself, and it's so great to see it done by a real master builder. Thank you.
What's up next?

Hi Jacob,

Thank you for your kind comments and support during the build. I have enjoyed the challenge of working with such an old and basic kit, and am pleased with the result.

As for the next "mad" project, I have no idea, especially as I intend to be at Scalemodelworld in November, might find something inspiring there.

For the moment. concentrating on some campaign builds and trying to rekindle the enthusiasm to finish HMS Puma, type 41 Frigate.

Cheers.

Well, if you haven't already build her, you should give the HMS Dreadnaught from Trumpeter a shot. I'm about to finish my build, and it has truly been a pleasure. I will show some pictures of her when finished.

Cheers Russ,

Crunching on with campaign builds for now, and with Telford coming up in early November, might find something odd there.

Cheers.

Hi Jacob

Thanks for the idea.

I built the Zvezda Dreadnought a while back, with lots of extras. The thread is here.

http://modelshipwrights.kitmaker.net/forums/211709&page=1

Have thought about converting one of the dreadnought kits into a Bellerophon class, I know there some minor dimensional differences in the hull, but I don't yet have all the detail I need to know if it is feasible, or the differences in the hull are liveable with.

Also working on plans for a major Kreigsmarine conversion. More on that when I have finished the research.

Sorry, but I like to keep people guessing.

Cheers.

Brilliant work, Simon ! If you are looking for something different and something more colorfull go with these older battleships.
Neat job !

Hi Bernd,

I do love ships from the pre dreadnought era, not only are they colourful, but the engineering is somewhat eccentric, both make them interesting to build.

Thank you for you kind comment.

Cheers

Si
