I was about to arc up and type that you did a crap job of painting the details on the boats, then you put the wooden bits on and I sorta calmed down a bit..

Hi Warren,

I was teasing a bit when I posted that pic, but it is a before & after, get the deckhouse colour on, go over the line, just in case the deck isn't quite perfect, slap the deck on, all good.

I am quite pleased about the left over torpedoes from the Indy worked as well.

But please feel free to be as constructive as you like with the constructive criticism mate.

Here we go,

doesn't show up too well, but all 14 sections of torpedo net shelf on.

The four steam pinnaces fitted in place.

This is going to be the time consuming bit, the gun port hatches. the four aftermost on.

each one has two falls attached for opening / closing. The first one done.

.

More soon.

Cheers

Small progress today,

The twelve midships gunport hatches have two portholes in them, I have drilled them out, and the will be filled with Krystal Klear.

All the gunport hatched in place.

.

Didn't fancy tacling the lifts for the hatches today, so started on the pulling boats, one of the two large cutters with the etched thwarts, they are a very good fit.

More soon,

Si

Thanks Todd,

Still needs it's oars and it's rudder, will also have to find some spare chocks for the smaller boat that sits on top of it.

Cheers.

A bit more progress on the boats,

All eight pulling boats have had their etched thwarts fitted.

The first of the large cutters fitted out with oars, rudder and chocks for the Jolly boat that sits on tops of it, the jolly boats have also had oars and a rudder fitted.

More soon,

Cheers.

Cheers Russ,

They are coming on, two down six to go, not as many as on the King, but quite a few for such a small ship.

Si,

She is coming along splendidly. Nice work on the lifeboats and bringing them to life.

While I am not one for early century warships she is beautiful to look at. Great work bringing her to life.

Simon,
Looking great and excellent work on the boats! Despite the number, I have always wondered if ships truly had enough boats to take all the crew off in the event of a sinking.

cheers

Thanks Dave,

I will convert you yet, the pre dreads are such idiosyncratic ships.

Thanks Todd,

On a ship of that size where half the length of the ship is all boats, the efforts has to be put in.

Thanks Michael,

Being a lifeboat is a secondary role for a warship's boats, primarily they were work boats, most would require cranes or derricks to launch, which is not efficient in a sinking ship. Until the innovation of carley floats and other liferafts, there was not enough rescue equipment for the entire crew.

Thank for the comments and support.

Cheers.

Si

I count 12 boats, Si.

That's only 1 less than the KGV!

You're definitely a lot quicker than me!

Hi Russ,

Felt like a lot more when I was building the Duke, but then there was quite a lot less to these than the big motor boats with all those etched cabins.

Good luck with the KGV's boats mate.

Cheers.

Great progress, since my last visit. Your Borodino comes really along. The screws are a major improvement over the plastic ones
and the boat details are really amazing, well done so far

Especially the contrast between the light colored deck and the black superstructure makes this one looking really unique, guess the real thing was a stunning sight with the black smoking funnels steaming throught the sea.

This one will look great on this fine display stand

Thanks Bernd,

The scheme is striking, I was tempted to waterline her, but the hull shape is so interesting.

Thanks Jan,

I do like to add some detail to the boats, it does help to lift the inished model.

Cheers.
