Hi all!!

That's it: proudly commissioning HMS BELFAST, the White Ensign is hoisted and flying!

I'm uploading a bunch of pictures right now that will be on my Belfast blog shortly! Thank you all for your kind comments and encouragement, this was a fine and enjoyable campaign - actually the first campaign ever for me!! Certainly not the last!!

- is there a Campaign Gallery yet? I could not find one?!?

I'll be of course following all your fine builds here, still about four month or so to go!

Cheers,
Jan

Great job Jan,

You have done the old girl proud, Congratulations on commissioning.

Will chase up on the Gallery, I did put in a request when I commissioned Scharnhorst.

Cheers

I Know I'm getting a late start and the only thing that changed from my original photo is the purchase of the deck, but I'm not traveling for work any more so now I can start on my build..... USS. New Orleans

Howdy Y'all
Everyone's builds look great, I can't believe the details and rigging. Just amazing, especially for a ham-fisted modeler like myself.
I'm finally posting my start photo. I started this kit a few years ago but never finished. I'll be building the IJN Kinu before her 1943 retrofit.

This is a 1/700 scale Fujimi kit. I'll also parts from a Pit-Road "Equipment for Japan Navy Ship-WW2" set, mainly for a gun and float plane.
Take care,
Don "Lakota"

Nice Don,

Always had a soft spot for Japanese cruisers.

Good luck with your build

Help!

I'm having a really hard time finding 1/700 5"/38 metal barrels.

It seems like they are all sold out, on back order or super expensive. I've checked Ebay and most of the major online stores.

Does anyone have suggestions?

Thanks!

Did this turn into a Submarine campaign?

...Because we've certainly gone silent.

I've finished the major construction on the IJN Kinu. This is a pretty crude kit, one of Fujimi's early 1/700 waterline kits.

I like the long, sleek look of the IJN light cruisers.

I tacked the small assemblies on for photos and also providing a "mask" for priming with a rattlecan primer. The small parts such as guns and stacks are tacked on with a pin drop of CA glue. Next step is priming then I'll start painting the small parts after I take them off the main assembly. I'm keeping this a simple, OOB build.
Take care,
Don "Lakota"

Yep, indeed!

And very nice to see some activity here in this fine campaign, it has become quiet lately...

more on the
build log

notably yesterday I got the clear matt cote on the hull sealing everything in, which marks the last time the hull will be upside down.

I'm finishing up the Jeep campaign and prepping to move! But, the San Diego should be done before then!

I just need to find some 5in/38 barrels... (or call it "good enough" for now with the almost round plastic ones)

Great to see all the progress, and all the different classes of cruisers!

Thanks Dave! I never even think of using BNA. I think I got the last one, and a few other goodies so I don't get stuck in the same situation later.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Hi Eman,
Nice choice on the "Varyag". I'll be following along to see how this progresses.

A small update for the campaign blog on my slow build.
Added blast bags to the main guns

and started work on the gun deck by adding some portholes, rigging attachment and gun deck viewing slit.

cheers

Michael
