Update 9 April 2018!
Break out the folks 'cos this baby's finished!
Andy, I didn't quite make Prinz's actual build time of 1562 days, but I did come pretty close: 1540!
flags are on and she's now commissioned!
and this is how she really looked around the time of Operation Rheinuebung
as you can see, all drab grey, no fancy colours or anything. Still surprised as to why Trumpeter released her as per 1945 fit. Any way, here's the map of Operation Rheinuebung
and sadly here's where she's laying at rest now, victim of the atomic tests...
I have to thank each and everyone one of you who have followed along and been patient with this build. All the advice and knowledge has been invaluable in back dating the kit to 1941!
I'd like to say it has been an enjoyable build these last 4 years, but, truth be told, it has been a slog and a half and at times I did want to give in!
But we got there in the end!

Well, I did genuinely laugh Si-not quite icebergs (as in Titanic), but there will be a sense of deja vu as I chase down another glacier from the past!
And, yep, we knew what you meant
Meanwhile this is much better.
Re-rigged, a couple more runs added and one or two corrected and the Prinz has moved up to the 'completed' shelf. Meanwhile the HMS *** has moved down to the 'under construction" shelf.
Today I also built what could potentially be the largest light box I've seen to enable decent pics to be taken once the ensign arrives in the mail is hoisted on the Prinz!

Yes, the camera will get a huge workout! I'm currently building a light box just for ships so I can take some good pics. Building it big enough to accommodate the largest ship in the stash: Titanic!

Well Andy, I can honestly say I'd never quite thought of it like that, but now that you mention it, it's quite the coincidence
(or is it? )Seriously though, its a testament to you and everyone who has stuck around for this build as I see it through to completion.
And it may yet match the build of real Prinz (hey, what's another 52 days?
) as I decide that I really don't like the fw'd rigging and decide that it needs a bit more tweaking.Hence a couple of runs have been disconnected and using a #75 drill, I added some holes and insert 0.5mm brass rod on which to mount the rigging. This gives it a much more accurate appearance.
I'll give the rod a coat of paint and re-attach the rigging and hopefully the flag decals I've ordered from Hannants will arrive soon
