Looking very good Simon, and lots of goodies to go with it.

After much deliberation of ship I am in with some patriotic fervor and flag waving.If I can find all the information I need it will be a late war build, 1918 or so.

Not much in the way of aftermarket for this but I have an Artwox deck and the barrels from Dreadnought. There is a small sheet of etch with the kit. I might have to source some railings later.

Should be a quick build, there is only a single sided sheet of instructions

I will post more pictures of the basics when I get started.

Two very interesting projects already posted - this should become a great campaign.

Now here's my contribution, my first campaign ever

HMS Belfast, 1:350 Trumpeter kit with WEM, wood deck from Artwox, Master barrels and various other add ons, partly cannibalized parts from older projects.

I've been looking forward to this campaign for quite a while. I LOVE cruisers.

This is the Revell 1/350 SMS Emden. I have liked the Emden since many, many years ago, I think in elementary school, after reading Edwin Hoyt's "Swan of the East" which I understand is an abridged version of his "Last Cruise of the Emden." Fast forward about 40 years and a while back I wanted to build the Emden. Problem is at that time it was out of production and Ebay prices were stupid expensive. A friend of mine gave me his kit of the Dresden, along with the GMM PE set. Thanks Bob!. I really messed it up by doing a lousy job of the underwater stern area, which is modeled separately so that one set of molds can do either Emden or Dresden. I compromised by cutting down the hull to do waterline. Problem is I really don't like waterline and the project faded to the back burner. I finally managed to pick up the Emden kit at the High Altitude IPMS Nationals in Loveland, CO, a few years ago.





If you notice the first thing I've done is cut away the box lid so I can have an opening box. I HATE Revell's end opening boxes.

The only camera I have at the moment is my phone so I can't show a shot of today's date. I just hope everybody trusts me.

This is gonna be a great campaign, Im glad its long term because it turns out I am a really slow shipbuilder. I have to finish the Reuben James and then I will be a one model man, I look forward to building the meanest looking cruiser around IMHO: USS Indianapolis.

The Scharnhorst's keel is laid.



The fit of the upper hull is quite good except for right at the bow, which is slightly but noticeably out of alignment.



Fitted, not quite perfect, but will be ok after a bit of a clean up.





The main deck components cleaned up ready to fit.



Fitted, the midships 4.1" gun deck test fitted to check the maindeck fit.



Prop shafts and rudders in place.



Looking forward to seeing the rest of the campaigners' projects on the thread.

Firstly sorry about the photo quality they were taken with my iPod instead of one of my cameras.

This is my entry, it's the premium version so comes with wood deck and pe as standard. The only additions will be replacement 20mm guns on the deck as the kit ones are poor.

Si, you are really fast!! There's a full year to go - but then, this is quite an ambitious project!! I have Scharnhorst in my stash, too, but she will probably take my more than a year to build... Looking forward to your progress very much!!

Now here's the output of a not so successful day...some touch ups on the camouflage and some prototyping of the motorized twin Oerlikon, based upon Todd's ideas back from his HMS Roberts build log - thanks Todd!!

Hey all,

Great to see such a wide variety of subjects so far in the campaign. Well here is my submission, Hasegawa's IJN Light Cruiser Noshiro with the Hasegawa PE set for the Noshiro and a couple common PE sets for Agano Class Light Cruisers. I will be picking up some North Star Brass Strip soon.



Unfortunately due to congestion in the Ship Yard construction will not commence for about 30 days.

Looking forward to this Campaign...let the fun begin!!!

Today's progress,

Fo'c's'le and quarterdeck details that the wood deck will fit over, and deck edge fairleads fitted. This will reduce the risk of glue marks, and aid the fitting of the wood deck.





The iron ladded beefed up with some steps from left over etched vertical ladders.



The hull sprayed Halfords red primer.



and a top coat of Lifecolour German anti fouling red.

Okay, I'll bite too!

I'll enter with Trumpy's Prinz Eugen which I started some time ago but has been on the back burner during the battleship campaign, but can now kick off again.

Hopefully seeing all you guys progressing will give me the push I need to finish him on time

Do you mean the 'Cruiser' gallery? If so, one has no been made yet.

Great to see all the interest shown so far.

The weekends are my busy time at work, I'm a cab driver, so I haven't gotten too much done. Silly me I thought I'd at least get the hull done by now. The first thing I've done is glue some Evergreen strip over the lower level of port holes in the hull so you can't see through them. I've also glued in place the bulkhead/floor section for the two forward broadside guns.



I've also taped one of the stern insert to the main hull to get an idea how to glue it. This is my biggest worry as this is an area I managed to really look a mess when I tried building the Dresden kit. I am going to take my time here to make the area look as good as I can make it.



I hope to be able to get more done tonight.

As you will well know the weather has not been conducive to painting. But I have dabbling over at Aeroscale trying to complete a plane. After that I will examine the space in the drydock to see if there is room for two and see if the shipworkers can think about more than one hull at a time.
