Dave you are doing great! I am a fan of the Japanese ships, especially the cruisers. I wish one of the Japanese companies would cut some more molds in 1/200 scale! They would sell.

Okay, I managed a little progress today. I redid the projection booth, added the main armament, life rafts and had to re think the boats aft due to fitment interference with the crane drive shafts.
Below is the projection booth. I used the kit projection booth, albeit I had to cut a section of it off. I think it turned out better than the first one.
I added the life rafts as well. I used Model Kasten stretch thread for the rope, and cut the oars off the MKI/AK set for the paddles.
Below you can see the turrets in place. I also added reels to the barbette and extra ammo boxes to the deck around the #2 Barbette as well.
In the photo below you can see where I added electrical boxes with conduit on the bulkhead.
And here are a couple of preliminary overall shots.

What a beauty Mark,
My entry,.and it will deliver a package!
Swedish frame as base, the water is made from "mod-podge" and for the splash i used some clear plastic covered with mod-podge
Easy Airfix build, i like this model.

Ok all, time for an update. I've finally resolved my internet connectivity problem. Man do I love the free market and business competition!
So, The next series of pictures will show work on the foremast/fighting to and the addition of details. I added rivets and bracing to both main tops, the 5" directors on the superstructure were opened up and detailed with Eduard P.E. The flag bag(Eduard) was replaced and adjusted a little lower. I put some facsimiles of flag in it and included a tarp to cover the starboard side and left it draped open on the port side. The 1.1" director mounts were rebuilt(now you can get these 3D printed).

I concur with the statements about the Kate. An interesting display and concept. Will be following to see how it all unfolds. Looking good.
I got the rigging finished today and am almost there. I fixed the CAXM radar to the foremast. The radar is from Tom's Modelworks 1/192 radar set and is close enough to 1/200 for my tastes. I also fixed the boat cranes, the aircraft crane, aft catapult, the jack and ensign staffs, and tweaked the two Kingfishers on the #3 turret for better alignment.
Using the drawings for the Arizona for the ensign staff, I painted the bottom light blue, and repositioned the other two using stretched clear sprue. I also added eyelets to rig the union jack and two supports.
I also added the wake light at the tip of the stern.
For the jack staff, I added eyelets for rigging the jack, added supports and a piece of stretched clear sprue to simulate the light at the top which I think is the anchor light.
On to anchors, paravanes, railings and more.

The SC radar platform was perforated steel plate, not solid as the kit. I rebuilt it as well.

The mainmast in finished; waiting for install. Here are some detail shots of future antenna attachments. Working on the ship's boats. After they are in place the mainmast will be installed, then I will move back aft and finish up the crane rigging and permanently attach the turrets and aft catapult.

Hey Randy: Good to see the progress and that you got your Photo Bucket situation squared away. Model is coming along nicely, main mast looks good as does the fore top. The perforated platform is a nice touch, I have to hand it to you on that one.

Here is my startup photos.
I'm sorta embarrassed due to the great modelers that are already doing the 1/200 USS Arizona and modifying/scratch-building the USS Pennsylvania. But to learn and read what they have done should help me do an acceptable job.
I plan to use the wood deck and the eduard set.
I have a question already. Since the Trumpeter kit has some raised panel lines to simulate the planks on the deck, should these be removed prior to applying the stick on wood deck or just apply directly to the unmodified deck?
There are a lot of great builds here and I will enjoy seeing what the others are doing.

Great choice of a model. This kit has been bashed by so many on different forums, but you know, it sure looks like the Arizona when built right out of the box. The Eduard PE is a good choice as well. almost everything you will need for PE enhancement is there. I got the Eduard chain railings, and quickly realized that it was way beyond my skillset and motivation, but the chain works out to make a great way to secure the boats to their cradles. The Artwox deck is a good choice albeit there are the naysayers who say the planking is wrong. Screw them, it looks great and no you don't need to sand down the kit planking. Just be careful to have it aligned before you make the final stick.
I look forward to following your build, and after doing the 1/200 Arizona and almost finished with my Arizona/Pennsylvania conversion, I feel I can answer any question you may have regarding the build and the ship.

One more thing; Arizona had three Kingishers the kit only provides two. Riich has a great 1/200 Kingfisher set available from Freetime Hobbies; http://freetimehobbies.com/1-200-riich-models-os2u-kingfisher-aircraft-w-launcher-contains-2/ Check it out. The kit comes with two Kingfishers and two catapults. The cats are wrong for Arizona but, they provide some machinery to enhance the kit cats.

Thanks for the input. I will be taking you up on the offer to help.
My intent is to place the Arizona in Pearl Harbor at just before the attack. My research says that the planes were not on the ship at that time, so I'm going to leave them off.
I will also make this a waterline model with the ship moored at the battleship row quays. Pretty big bite to chew by Dec. but with advice from folks like you I think I can get it done.
