Now the yard has been vacated by the Hesperus, the next project is ready to go.
The Tamiya Kagero, with Infini upgrade, in the box.
The upgrade.
The kit.
Keel may be laid tomorrow, or next weekend.
Cheers
Si

Thanks Russ,
Like to keep things moving, Love Tamiya engineering don't think any other company matches that. This will be my first Infini models upgrade set, good base to try it out on

Si,
Speedy builder as always.
I think you are going to love the Infini Upgrade kit. The turned brass options alone make it work the cost.
I am almost done with the Akigumo.
Will be following along as always.

Wow! that is a lot of brass for ship that size. Will have to follow this build for some pointers on handling such small P.E. and parts.

I have Tamiya chikuma with eduard etch. Love Tamiya engineering and wish they would get on the ball with an up to date US heavy cruiser or some ww 2 American destroyers

Welcome aboard Dave,
Your comments encouraged me to take the plunge on the Infini set,
I do like the turned brass, it does make a real difference with the cable reels, depth charges and the like.
Cheers

Welcome aboard Mark,
Glad to have you along.
The best starting point for handing small etch is a really good pair of needle nosed tweezers, not cheap but far less tendency for the points to slip and ping parts across the room.
Cheers

Welcome aboard Norman,
Agree with you there, these kits stand up to most of what is around today, but it would be nice to see the kind of love they put into their recent aircraft releases applied to some more ships.
Cheers

The keel laying, well the nuts that allow the ship to be screwed and unscrewed from the base.
The foredeck, before some destruction.
and after.
The bulkheads in place, (It have an issue with fat fingers and the midships bulkhead but they are designed be easily trimmed at the waterline for that option.
Not a problem though, fitted back in place with upper hull halves. One clever thing, the joint at the bow is slightly offset on the port side.
decks down.
usual excellent Tamiya fit, although I must say, their quick drying extra thin cement did come in handy as the upper hull halves were very flexible until secured.
Cheers

Si,
Nice start to the build. I also found the off set bow as a nice touch. Looking forward to following along.

Thanks Jan,
Surprised me it was that many. Glad Mrs Duster doesn't read these threads, otherwise I would likely be on the receiving end of something worse than the Washington Naval Treaty
Better start drawing plans to convert Scharnhorst and Repulse into carriers to save them from Scrap!
Cheers

Si, your post made me laugh out loud!
I count myself fortunate that my own wife is so patient with my modeling excesses...
At least you actually seem to get yours built!

I am happy to have a good Mrs that puts up with my excesses too. She allows ample time at the bench and while the purchasing of kits has to get presidential approval she doesn't mind new supplies. I just bounce between kits alot to always have something fresh. That's what really annoys her.

Hi Tim,
to be fair Mrs Duster is actually very understanding and supportive, it is just her favourite comment when I bring something new in, especially if it isn't small, is:- "What are going to do with that when you have built it!"
Cheers

Hi Norman,
Know what you mean about "Presidential approval", but I do get a few kits for Christmas / Birthday, although these tend to be on short lead time for going into the yard for obvious reasons.
There may have to be a potential cull, (not of the 1/350 stuff, I hope) as we are looking at turning the garage into a new workshop for me and a utility room, and there are fair few 1/700th ships, 1/48th wingy thingies etc still boxed and in the junk space that the garage currently is.
Cheers

Si,
Coming along nicely. The fun begins shortly with application of a lot of brass.
Looking forward to it.

Nice and fast progress on the Duster's Shipyard, Si!! I wish some of our - especially the 1:1 shipyards - would be that productive, but that's quite off topic now...
Looking forward to see the first brass works going on, as Dave stated!!
Cheers,
