Well - somehow MSW played tricks on me yesterday, just when I pushed "ready to reply" on my update, there seemed to be problems with the server. Or something. However, the update didn't make it...

Ok, now very quick. First some 1:1 - but what has that picture to do with my F225?



That's a container vessel we passed on our way along the Elbe river towards the German Bight on Thursday. And the embarked pilot was so kind to send me some pictures of my 'mighty frigate' as we look from their bridge...







Well...still we are looking good, I think!!

And 1:700, small update, more small stuff around the bridge and forecastle. More railings, radars and the nameplates. All needs to be painted/touch ups, and I'll try to sand down the nameplates so that the name shows in brass. Hope that works...











That's it for now, I hope to get some more done over the next weekend.

that's very kind, I'm glad you like both, the 1:1 and 1:700. It's just great to be underway on the 1:1, they are fine ships, going very steady and are easy to handle. Really good responding to helm and engine, in fact better than anything I know.

But this is still mainly about the 1:700, so here a small update, more (really) small stuff added:

Well, ship's name is not 100% showing, but that's with magnifying lens. Makes eye can barely read the letters...






Still not perfect, but from a normal viewing distance it looks pretty cool!
And touch ups, or full painting, has to be done on all those PE, I'll do that once most is installed later on.

The curse of modern digital photography is that it shows up flaws that the Mk1 eyeball cannot detect.

I reckon you are doing a 1st rate job on a ship that means a lot to you, and I am enjoying following your build.

Perfect would be boring, right? It looks good to me, and the miniscule Rhineland-Pfalz nameplate is even readable, even though I need my spectacles to appreciate it!

Normal viewing distance = MkI eyeball... and that looks pretty darn fine to me

Well, already once again much more time passing by than I anticipated...

But finally, here's an update! Essentially, more small (REALLY SMALL) stuff added, radars, IFF, vertical ladders, navigational lights, antennas, some railings.

All of that needs to be painted. I gave it an initial coat of grey on the fret, but apart from touch ups, some stuff has to be painted white. I will do that once everything is installed.

Dear all!

First of all, thank you so much for your kind comments and for sticking with me! - more then a month gone...

Well, I'd say I have a good excuse, working on and with the 1:1! We were at sea quite a bit, undergoing trials and made some progress. Now I'm back home, brought my ship back to Hamburg last week for a required period of docking and have some days of leave ahead of me. While I'm still busy with laundry and stuff, and just getting some rest, there should be some good bench time ahead.

For now, a sign of life, to reassure you this thread isn't dead, and some pictures of the 1:1 from the last weeks. 1:700 should see an update in a few days, as well as I should catch up with your gentlemen's beautiful builds here on MSW.

And here comes an update to the 1/700.

Railings and helicopter traverse installed to the flight deck, fire monitors, and some touch ups including painting the navigational radars and sat com white.















And finally staring to ship some of the pre finished equipment, here the BUSTER boats, to in the niches, two niches closed. The colors should blend in with the gloss coat in the end (I hope - but then, my 1:1 already looks a little bit like 50 shades of grey...) And the firs flag lines rigged (Si's copper wire method)



















I should have another update on the 1/700 in a few days. So that you all for following and looking in!
