Si - Good luck on the redesign and build of your garage / Man-Cave.
I'm sure my wife would agree with Mark's wife concerning me moving to the garage but Mark is right about the heat around here, that's why i took over the upstairs family room and finally bought a spray booth!!

Always glad to have you along for the ride. The fun part of this for me is going to turning her into an early sixties ship, the enclosed wheelhouse, rig on the derricks, cradles for them to sit in stowed etc. (Might have one pair rigged for union purchase)

Little bit of progress today, first time back in the workshop for three weeks.
Masking off the hull ready to spray the deck.
Using kitchen foil saves a lot in masking tape.
The deck sprayed and the masking off.
Detail removed from No.1 hatch, ready for adding etch.
All etched up.
Painted and fitted.
Winches and more hatches next.

Never thought of using foil instead of tape. I would think it may scratch the existing paint but I guess not. That hatch rebuilt really does look a lot better then the kit layout.

Hi Mark,
have been using foil for a while for bigger hulls, as long as you let the paint cure properly, and don't pull it tight around the hull you will be fine.

Working down the deck.
A Windlass and some winches built, alright including one the after units built.
painted black and a bit weathering applied to the drums.
The foredeck winches fitted.
Two things conspicuous by their absence are the top ends of the hawse pipes, these will have to be drilled and some scrap anchor cable found.
Vents and a pedestal fairlead added to the foredeck.
Eduard provides replacement deck houses. the basic assembly compared to the kit parts.
More detail going on, catapulted on etched part across the kitchen, so some strip and wire replaced it.
The vents and kingpost under way.

Hi Mark,
It does rather lift make the deck more interesting, but I remember the black winches from a couple black & white photos that were on the office wall, of 50's / 60's built ships back when I worked for Niarchos.
I do like the busy deck houses, they will, I hope, give the cluttered appearance of a working merchant ship.

Latest progress,
Hawse holes drilled, and some spare anchor cable painted and being fitted.
Measured, trimmed and fitted.
Final details fitted to the kingpost. some of the WW2 detail was removed, along with the mounting for the heavy lift derrick, and sprayed white.
The vents have been painted grey, and the unit fitted in place.
No.2 and No.3 hatches put together, need their moulded detail removing and etch fitting.

Nice progress but I can't help but notice some gaps on those air vent funnels and mast at the base of the housing? Not being critical it could be the lighting in the photo?
