I just started building the HMS Zulu by Trumpeter. It is for the National IPMS show coming up next month in Texas. My first choice for the show turned into a complete disaster with the paint work.

Anyway I am having a hard time finding references on the Zulu. I have read that during her last war modification that either 2 pounder (40mm) single barrel or 2 20mm single were added to the bridge wings. I been unable to find any close up photos of her after the upgrades to verify which weapon were installed. I know you are working on the HMS Eskimo diorama so maybe you may know a good reference source.

The derrick layout is a little unusual, I believe on No.3 hatch they were originally stowed vertically, post war shipowners seemed to prefer to have them stowed horizontally.

Looks right for the photo I have of this vessel.

On the subject of HMS Eskimo, I have had a dig through my references, almost everything I have Eskimo is early war. I did find, In the "Warship Special 2, Super Destroyers", a photo of HMS Nubian fitted with single Bofors on the platform between the funnels. It is not clear if, but they look like MkV boffins, she has twim MkV 20mm on the lower bridgewing. The only text states:-

"Towards the end of the war 40mm Bofors began to appear on the Dominion ships and at least one of the RN survivors (Nubian)"

Oh no, frustrating, Si! I hope you are able to resume this one day -I was enjoying watching it progress!

very frustrating and sad, but yes, I'm with you there. This has been a really great build so far, I'd hope you don't scrap her but find an old original that comes close to your build as far as you got. Looking forward and will definitely following your next approach on SS Work Legion!
