although Trumpy didn't do a great job on the hull halves, they did a really good job on everything above the upper deck 
The multi-piece deck was a real pain to remove the seam.

Hi Mark,
The deck joints were not the best, but quite a chunk of both are hidden under hatches.
To get the bulwark detail in, I can't see a way around it though, either that or a full length join along the hull at maindeck level, on a component that could have a nasty warping issue.

Small progress over the weekend.
The etched superstructure side details fitted, some of it leans towards a wartime fit, but the ladder positions are better than the kit parts.
Another peacetime addition, solid bulwarks around the bridge-wings. these did tend to be slightly higher than the railings. I will find something to mage some gratings out of, and add some gyro repeaters to the ends of the bridge-wings.
More etched structure added to the rear of the superstructure.

Life has got incredibly busy at the moment, so a bit slow replying to comments.
Bit more scratchbuilding, an enclosed wheelhouse, looks to have the same footprint as the old open platform, square windows so that is going to be fun.

A bit of progress last weekend.
Railings on the boat deck.
A few more bits going on.
Test fitted with the upper bridge, also a small etched part has been repurposed as a derrick rest, attached to the railing beneath the bridge wing supports.
With the derrick boom test fitted in place.
The booms do look a bit long compared to the photographs. might have to have a bit of a trim.

Generally it looks like they were, but not on all, the only photo I have of this ship I cannot see that area, and the etch looked cool. A lot you could stow in there with tarps over them.

On this ship, I do not know, but I could see good seaman taking a look and re-purposing them to stow something else, either lining, or covering with a tarp.
No 1/350th spuds, really forgetting essential components like that...
