More for the Type IX! New from Nautilus Models, a wood deck set for Revell's new U-Boat kit.
The set will include two main deck pieces that meet under the lower gun deck, as well as two pieces of microthin wood for the wintergarten gun decks.

Also to be included are microthin sections of side planks for the bridge, three resin hatches (a small one for the bridge and two deck hatches) and two "air tanks" to fit the holes on the after main deck.

A sheet of vinyl deck hatches and other raised details will also be included.

Nautilus models has them listed at their website for a special pre-sale price of $60 plus shipping and handling (US).

After April 15th, the price will be $70.00

There is some debate among submarine modelers whether the Nautilus wooden decks are to scale. In any case, good to see this option for modelers.

I'd imagine if it's wood, better too thick and give the builder the option to flat sand them thinner if he/she desires. As you said, at the least it provides more options to builders.

I thought the vast majority of these boats used metal decks. I know this was the case on the Type Vll. I just got my metal deck/105mm gun in today from Czech Republic

Hi Steve, You have received the 10.5 and deck from Ota and......? What is the good word? Do you recommend? Cheers, Joe

Joe the detail is excellent. really sharp i would have preferred it to be made of thicker metal....more rigid as it is a deck. It is too bendable and I have a small concern if it is too thin I'll have to bolster it a bit to get it to fit flush with sides and to strengthen to add conning tower and the like. Wont be getting around to building it for a bit, but may play around with it later to check fit and the like. The gun looks great nice turned brass tube with a few resin parts and a small sheet of brass parts

I looked at the instructions for it...I was right they are saying to add edging to raise it and cross pieces to strengthen. You also have to make ( or sand down the original parts) for the solid front and back sections. gonna have to add something to the bottom of the conning tower as well as you can have an open hatch. Oh the possibilities
