54" long. It would be awesome, but where would I put it. I just had the chance to tour the Iowa, which was when the wife suggested I should do more ship models. Could I get her to approve this?

I can't help getting the impression the price of these 1/200 ships is being progressively increased.

Then add another $300 for the photo etch set!! Getting closer to $1000.

No, don't think so. You run a risk of finding the dangling bits in a jam jar on the mantlepiece. There is a fine line where common sense manages to beat sheer lust.Just my 2 cents.............

Well, if you want to release these kind of kits to the American market at these prices, this is the time of year to announce them -right around the time of tax refunds if you get one. Mine was spoken for several smaller purchases of 1/350 submarine kits and photo etch details.

Gents, whether we think these are a good idea is beside the point IMO. It's nice to have options like this if you're into big boats.

So what pray tell is the major difference btwn this and the Missouri? Other than a lrge price increase you may fare better buying a MIghty Mo off of ebay. with deck and photoectch from Prontos get it for $5-600. I am sure a few different parts but really Trumpy give us something new like a 350 Maryland or Baltimore.

Typically there are some variations from a lead class ship and her following sisters. From what research I did, these are some differences between Iowa and her followers: The Iowa had three levels in her conning tower versus two levels in her sisters (BB62 through BB66). -The lower level was for a flag control platform, the middle level as a ship control station and the upper level being a fire control station for the Mark 40 (main battery) director. -The lower, or Flag Level of the conning tower, is omitted in BB62 through BB66. - The Iowa was fitted with 20-mm mounts atop #2 turret so as not to block the view from the flag control level of her conning tower. Subtle differnces at best, perhaps, and when more information of the actualy kit becomes available, MSW will report on them.

The price is only increased if you are impatient and want the ships the day they are released. Look no further than the 1/200 Arizona you can now pick up for about US$100...
