Continuing to build on its fine range of Photoetch sets Flyhawk Photoetched has announced the eagerly awaited 1/350 super detail set for the IJN Takao.This set will be released shortly and the retail price has yet to be confirmed.
The Flyhawk 1/350 superdetail set for the IJN Takao is now on its way. This set will contain parts to enable you to build her as she appeared in 1942 or 1944. There are eleven pieces of photoetch sets and in addition plenty of highly detailed resin parts from Veteran Models

Ship History
The IJN Takao was the first of four Takao-class heavy cruisers, and was the lead ship of her class. She was launched on 12 May 1930 at the Yokosuka Navy Yard and commissioned on 31 May 1932. She had a total displacement of 9,850 tons.
The IJN heavy cruiser Takao served throughout the Pacific War, taking part in many campaigns and ending up as a stationary anti-aircraft defense battery after being heavily damaged by US submarines after the Battle of Leyte Gulf in 1944. In 1946 she was finally towed to the Straits of Malacca to be used as a target ship for HMS Newfoundland.
