The Charles Martel was commissioned in 1896 and was decommissioned in 1914, struck 1919.

Bruce,
I think I am going to go with how she looked in 1897 when she visited Toulon. The 1905 Port Arthur photo sure looks white, but I guess light greyis close(B/W photos)
Anyway, do you have a color drawing for the black scheme, or can you tell me your srouce?
Thanks!
I found this one of her in a white/grey color scheme.

by: Bernard Ireland
published:1996
if you want i can and see if the books in the storage unit has a color plate of the Russian ship colors, but i do not think i have any on the Russian Navy before WW1.
cheers,
Bruce

Sadly it doesn't go out on missions anymore. For me it's a static display model but its big and in a case in my home. I can just imagine those guys years ago with these monster models in a pond somewhere firing shells at each other. Fantastic!!!
Thanks,
Gary

I have my entry and required upgrades ready to go:
Zvezda Knyaz Survorov, GMM photo etch, BMK barrels and funnels.....
I will cut her hull down to try my hand at water effects. This is my first campaign, and my second ship.....I have started the HMS Edinburgh to practice for this campaign, and Im really looking foreward to it...

Hi Frank
I'm going to do that one too, I would recommend the brass barrels from BMK by the way. Just be aware that if you want to do the kit accurately, you have to make some changes to the gun ports if you want to do her in the Victorian scheme shown in the photo

Quoted TextBruce,
Any chance of doing a 1/700 IJN light cruiser the Shinano Maru?
hello Harry,
the rules state that you may build any Warship 1866-1905.the Shinano Maru was a merchant ship before the IJN took here over and made her an aux cruiser.
but with her famous history (first IJN ship to find the Russian Fleet) i am going to allow it.
cheers,
Bruce![]()
Okay, I am in with the Shinano. I don't have any instructions, but I think I can manage

I've now been told that there is some opinion that RS was in victorian scheme before the armoured casemates were added, so now I'm not sure what to believe!

AYE AYE SIR!
I've found the kit in one of my stash boxes, and requested information form various shipmates. I'll have to pick up the Askold pe at Telford but otherwise my first phase is always research, and finding the best pose fo rthe scenario.
I've also chosen the white hull version as the black tends to hind detail at photographic stage - which in this case will be continuous.
Happy modelling everyone!

I was all ready for my build until I took out the Sisoy Velikiy and noticed the instructions really are bad. They do not point out which oart is which nor is are the locations pointed out all the well. The other ship I had thought about was built in 1915, so she is out.
BUT!!! I do have Combrigs USS Olympia and Chicago that have been bugging me to build, so all is not lost.
One way or another I will get something built!

hello all,
it looks like alot of research and thought has been done for this campaign.
@Peter,
it looks like you are going to do one of you amazing builds for this campaign,i cannot wait to see it.
@Jim,
i have seen alot of models of the Olympia, but none of the Chicago.i am hoping you will do the Chicago.but it is up to you.are you going to do your build as the great white fleet or for the Spanish-American War?
as all of you know ,i am building my first resin model and it is a Torpedo boat in 1/192.it is not in the class that all of you all are doing, but i think it will be interesting.
OK,14 days and counting.
cheers,
Bruce

Hi Guys
Long time no see...
It's been a long spring, summer and early autumn - house-move related home improvements have kept me away from modelling; hence my no-show on the post-war destroyer and 20th century cruiser builds, sorry.
However, things are looking up, my wife and I are now settled here in Surrey and my fantasy workspace is nearing completion. So, I'm planning to join my shipmates on this build. I hope to go with Kombrig's HMS Triumph c.1915 just before she was sunk in the Dardanelles strait. Looking forward to this one - my first fleet exercise here at MSW.
Cheers
