The initial interest in this campaign is great.

Kenny I am so glad you are planning on doing a USS Louisiana.

Now as I stated before I would like to think the instalments on the Great White Fleet in the Chartroom forum sparked all this interest but in reality I think its due to this being a superb era of maritime history with some fine and exciting ships being built.

Mark your selected build project is simply inspirational mate. Words fail me which as you well know is a rare occurrence indeed.

However to keep that enthusiasm boiling along please don't forget to check out the impending instalments.

Cheers

Sean

Mr Ford, thanks for the kind words, mate...and I for one, enjoy your series, my friend, and look forward to each installment, do keep them up!

Cheers,
~Mark

Yes, what he said.

Eventhough this is a long way off it will fly by. In no time I will be grumping at myself for not getting my Illinois ordered and then I'll have to go with a back up.

Ahoy Shipmates

Another announcement - I have been truly inspired by Gunny/Marks decision.

Well I have made a decision for this campaign.

Its the 1/30th IJN Isuzu from Hasegewa.

I decided to buy it today on our local version of Ebay.

Here is the box art:

Here is a picture of it made up:

And here is what I am thinking of adding to it:

I realise this is a very ambitious project but I am hoping to get some more experience in between now and when the campaign officially starts. At this point in time I have a very specific plan in this regard.

Since is so long away I thought I may add the Lion Roar update what do you think? If I get the update kit I will get it next year. If not the Lion Roar maybe the Gold Medal Models one or hey maybe both? LOL

Gunny I know I promised not to get anymore kits this year but the Italerei 1/35th S Boot has not arrived and looks to be a long way of and I have not "invested" all year so hence the decision was made.

Cheers

Hi Kenny and Mark,
This is to let all of you know that Bruce's surgery went well.He is now in recovery and the doctors said everthing wen o.k.This was hard on him, they did a full left knee replacement and a full right shoulder replacement. He will have a case of both sides of his body. They expect his release on late Tuesday or late Wednesday. They have him pumped up with pain meds and anti-cloting meds.
He wanted me to let everyone know how well it went.I am going to print the threads,so he can keep up with any questions or problems that might happen.
Have a good day,
Mary

I look forward to watching the WIPs of this build, very interesting subject matter... one attraction of ship building is the ability to go outside the "ww2" mode with interesting subject matter... Ill observe this one, need to finish many many kits in 2008.. some day Ill start my Emden though.... cheers, jim

Ok, I'm in on this too. It starts at the start of my slower winter period and gives me at least a year to come up with something before we start. Now, I need to see if the the USS Kansas was a pre-dreadnought>..I'm not sure that it was..but maybe it was. I think it was a South Dakota class ship.

Nope, it wasn't. Commissioned in 1907 and was Connecticut class.

My mistake. Kansas was commissioned in 1904 and the Connecticut class was pre-dreadnought. My mistake. So, Kansas it is.

The term Dreadnought brings fear to those who hear it. It means a large hulking almost unbeatable foe. Visions of mammoth battle ships are what naval people think of. But, do we know where the term actually comes from?

Back in 1573 the HMS Dreadnought was launched with the expectation she would “Fear nothing but God” , hence the term, dread nought, or fear none. Remember a scene in Master and Commander when the old helmsman holds his hands together to show the young ships boy? His hands spell out “FEAR NONE”

I was bored today, thought I would throw that out. I am also working on a ribbon and banner at this time and hope to get them done later today.

Looks good to me, mate...we'll see what Bruce has to say about it, as he is the campaign leader for this one, and if it's a go, I'll add it to the campaign mainpage...thanks Jim!

Like this as well, Jim...I hate to be a PITA, but could you include the campaign duration dates on the banner as well?

Your the second person that has used PITA on me today. I had to think for a second on that one.

Ask and you shall receive.

Dang Jim,

That's a nice banner. Can you come down to Louisiana and help me with some layouts for work?

Seriously, nice work.
