Hello Mark,
Thanks for making this a sticky thread. All of you who have posted in the old campaign folder, Can you please move over to this one.
To let everyone know, I made a mistake with the start of this campaign and made it a folder instead of a sticky. I am sorry if this is confusing to anyone.
I will now go on the deck for my 20 lashes as punishment.
Cheers,
Bruce

AYE AYE SIR!!!

Well, as before, my build is HMS Rollcall from the P N Thomas book on British Tugs. It is well supported with illustrations, and a coloured picture and so, plastic card at the ready, let's start cutting!

I will build the old Revell SMS Emden, OOB except for some railings. Using this build to try rigging for the first time!

Mighty quiet around here ? - anyway, slow progres. The superstructure is at a post future - pre weathering stage and is still not glued on the hull.

Hull has been washed some, but needs more work.

Here is a very interesting site on the color of WW1 Warships. Red aft funnels at Jutland?

WW1 Color Schemes

Does anyone know how accurate this is?

That is correct. It was a common High Seas Fleet practice, used to identification.

Hello All,
Photos tomorrow.
The nice Lady that takes photos for me demanded one of my 15 layer, 12 Different Meat, 10 Different Cheese Lasagna. So I have been cooking for 36 hours.
@ Jan,
Great work on your small stuff.
Till tomorrow.
Cheers,
Bruce

Hello Frank,
"Totally Off Topic"
I only make twice a year. I have to check the sauce every hour. A good tomato sauce should not be above 98 degrees or below 97.5 degrees, Then I cook all of the meat and take the blocks of cheese and shred it. I also make the Lasagna noodles by hand. So that means no sleep for at least 48 hours. So that you know, after you eat it, You never ever have a stoppage.
Lucky Miss Mary only wants it once every 6 months. It should last 2-3 days here, so no cooking for me till Sunday more time to model.
Cheers,
Bruce

In fact, the ships' crews did not apply the red paint until they were out of sight of land to preserve secrecy. This would probably have introduced appearance variations from ship to ship.

I have been working on a Jutland scene for several months now and I will post pics soon, hopefully as a feature , since the project doesn't qualify for this campaign.

Hello All,
This is what i am planning to build,

It is the new Glencoe Models World War 1 Subchaster in 1/74 scale.
It came in a very large box and rattled when i opened it. Bad sound. When I opened the box none of the parts where in bags, There is a large amount of flash on the parts, But the detail looks great to me.
As I slowly build Her I will find out any other problems. I give the model at first glance a 50%, Because of the large amount of flash and the parts loose.
I will post some photo's before I start so you all can see what I am talking about.
Cheers,
Bruce

Interesting kit, wierd scale, but you should still be able to use 1:72 figures on it.

It would be nice to gat a inbox view of the parts.

Hello All,
I have been thinking about doing an in box review.
There is also a WW1 German submarine in the same scale put out by Glencoe, But I cannot find it for sale on any of the on-line sites. I got the Subchaser from Free time models for $34.00, Not a bad price. I wonder what figures I can use for Her. They will have to be modified.

Bruce

I Have been doing a bit of woodwork, this is a piece of birch - it comes from the cutout for the kitchen sink, I have cut it and given it a light stain. It needs to be gently sanded and give a laquer and drilled some holes for the brass tubes in .357

Here it is with the ship loosely fit on it.

Thanks Bruce.

Done with the base, still some etch and decals to do on the ship - a week or so should do the trick.

Cheers/Jan

I“m calling it done. I know I ought to do some rigging for it, but to be honest, I don“t really feel motivated about this model anymore. Maybe its the fine weather or that it really not my kind of subject.

Anyway, it was fun trying something new, but I“m not sure you will se more ships from me in this scale.

Cheers/Jan
