Coming along real nice, Julian! Hope the Arthritis settles down soon.

Good luck with the deck! I'm sure you'll produce something outstanding with however you chose to display her!

Old men's problems Russell, feels like hot grains of sand in the finger joints . The filghtdeck, yeah, well, huge chunks of plastic to mess around with and fit together. Working on this

Bet you were chuffed with Daniel Ricciardo's performance yesterday, The guy is fantastic and I bet Mark Webber is loving all the in team friction building up at Red Bull.

First class work, as always, Julian!

Thought I should post a sign of life, though I have been lurking around the forums in spite of RL taking over...

Cheers!
Stefan

Stefan, nice to hear from you again! Hope things are all okay in Switzerland. I still haven't gotten around to building the Independence, (still remember your excellent build).
RL always seems to intrude on serious model building

April 22nd update, (didn't get around to posting yesterday):
All the ship's boats are on board now. Railing nearly fitted in properly on the focsle deck.

Qiute happy with how things are looking

Hello Julian, really looking good, she'll be ready for commissioning before you know it. Looking at those PE platforms at the bow I wonder how many times I would've demolished them before the model was completed. Sometimes it seems I spend a lot of my time during a build repairing self-inflicted damage. Al

It sure is good to see an Aussie take the podium, Julian! Can't say I'm as knowledgeable about these things as you are though.

Got hooked on F1 when I was still at school, the magic season that Hunt and Lauda went head to head. Then followed the greatest ever: Senna. Been following F1 ever since.

Coming on great Julian, likewise hope the Arthritis is settling down, know how you feel.

Also pinging PE, suffer from that too from time to time, good tweezers with nice clean flat tips help though.

All the best

Billing Boats also sell a special PE applicator, a sort of a metal handle with a sticky silicon ball on it that the PE parts hang onto until placed. In general it works well but doesn't have a 100% score though

April 26th update:
This will answer a lot of questions about what I am going to do with the showerscreen deck I will be going for a painted, weathered deck
The flightdeck halves are fitted together, (this is not a fun job ), and I think I can get away with some light filling so that the joint doesn't show up
The fit is good, (now ).
I think to celebrate this I will open another very elegant Picpoul, (will go nicely with the grilled French black foot chicken I bought at the market). Okido, photos:

Thanks Russell,
Don't know about awesome yet but it is a huge piece of real estate. Had a bad 60 minutes putting the groundcoat on: Trumpie uses a very oily coating to assist removal of the deck pieces from the moulds

Had to clean the first coat off with methylated spirits because it "pearled and bubbled" in a rather alarming fashion. Harsh language and elbow grease solved the problem though so things are back underway again

April 27th update:

Flightdeck grounded and then dusted with Lifecolour Mahogany stain. It won't stay this way, I will put a coat of Lifecolour Flightdeck stain over this letting the mahohany stain show through in places. You can still see a lot of detail through the hangar bay openings although not as much as I would have liked

Looking absolutely stunning with the deck on and base coated Julian.

Still getting a nice amount of light into the hanger, the aircraft in there really add loads of depth.

keep up the good work mate.

following with much interest.

The deck is a rather eye poking brown at the moment. I'll tame that with the blue stain. I managed to camouflage the joint line in the flightdeck. Quite chuffed with the Lady so far. A big ommission is the lack of arrester wires and crash barriers. I thnk I have a handle on that with some "Uschi von der Rosten" parts and my trusty punch and die. Thanks for popping in Simon, much appreciated

Hi Julian

As Simon said its looking good, seems at present that there are good views into the hanger. Will these views be obscured as the build progress.

Cheers Kev

Hi Kev, still some railings to add. Leave the hangar bay doors open and this is as good as it gets unless you leave parts of the deck unpainted to let in more light.
A lot of work that just disappears when the deck is fitted

oh, that's the worst feeling, Julian: You wanna cry and scream at the same time and the wife is looking at you like you're a weirdo...

Still, you've done a magic job and brought it back on track!

Julian,
I really enjoy following the progress on this build. I just wanna' shrink to scale and move around below deck -- getting seasick now! Excellent work!
