The Roberts is amazingly ugly but I am sure you will end up buying one too
It has been released so I hope to receive my copy soon.

I've always liked the ungodly, ungainly, just downright unusual look of the Roberts. I think that I'm going to have to venture into the uncharted waters of 1/350. There be Dragons! At least Roberts doesn't have all the PE that most ship models in that scale require. I know you guys deal with it on a regular basis, but just the thought of it scares the bejeebers out of me! Al

The instruction sheet of HMS Roberts by Trumpeter can be found online. There is more PE than you would expect Al.

I see there are 3 sheets of PE parts included, I was going by the built-up one, guess they didn't use all of the PE in the rush to get her built for the show. Having second thoughts, but Roberts is still very tempting though. Al

That's fer sure, that's fer dang sure! Unfortunately, PE does add so much to a ship model that I can't conceive of building one without using it. Though I do think that in some cases plastic works better than PE. For RoG's 1/72 Type VIIC, Eduard gives you PE handrails. Only they're flat and it's noticeable in that scale. The kit parts look better and not too out of scale. Then there's the Italeri Vosper with its PE yardarms and radar aerials, as you well know. Not only very noticeably flat, but structurally unsound. I guess in the end, PE is kinda like a wife, love it or hate it we'll just have to live with it. Al

April 19th update:
Have started fitting the various boats and launches around the hangar. The catwalks are completed, just need to add the railings and the 20mm, (think I will wait untill the flight deck is fitted before putting all that in place). Started fitting the focsle railings so that the bow catwalks can be glued in.

All for now I am afraid, arthritis is playing merry hell with my finger joints.
I thoroughly enjoyed the qualification for the Chinese grand prix. Hamilton put up a magnificent show in rain conditions. Old stinky finger Vettel doesn't seem to enjoy life as much as when he had the best car and his team mate wasn't kicking his a** all the time, (great job by the "new Aussie on the Red Bull Team" Daniel Ricciardo). Should be worth watching tomorrow.

Cracking stuff Julian,

The launches look well detailed, as do their cradles.

Good luck with fitting the deck, whatever you decide to do with it.

Thank you Simon,
I spent about an hour filing and cutting the two flightdeck pieces yesterday, fit is okay but leaves a very nasty gap.
Still working on this

Hi Kev, it would take eyes like Marty Feldman's to even see all of the ship in one take

A magnificent grand prix. The new "Red Bull Super Aussie" gave old stinky finger a good a** kicking. A most enjoyable moment to hear Vettel being ordered aside by his team to let Ricciardo through, wonder how he enjoyed that I bet Mark Webber got a buzz from that ...........

Julian, laughed to beat the band when Vettel was ordered to let Daniel by, and Vet said "Tough Luck", then lost to Daniel by 19 seconds!Great race tho, even if the outcome was a bit predictable.

Meanwhile, back to the Hornet. As usual, great job, but we have come to expect nothing less

I just love Marty Feldman.
I've had a smile all day reading the conversations in this topic. The picture is even more fun.

Try and get hold of "Young Frankenstein", Marty played Igor in that movie. It's still a great laugh.

Coming along real nice, Julian! Hope the Arthritis settles down soon.

Good luck with the deck! I'm sure you'll produce something outstanding with however you chose to display her!

First class work, as always, Julian!

Thought I should post a sign of life, though I have been lurking around the forums in spite of RL taking over...

Cheers!
