Nice progress Julian.
Typical the way you spell 'sateh'.
It must be Indonesia, maybe 'Malaku' influence.
enjoy,
Robert Jan

Thanks Keith, make sure you have a parking space for this build. Its really big and it seems to keep getting longer and wider as the build progresses..................

Currently enjoying the Bahrein GP. Old stinky finger Vettel looking like someone just offered him a slug to eat is cream on the cake. Shows that last 4 World championships should have been given to Newey instead of Vile Vettel because even my old toothless granny would have won in the old Red Bull..............................
Postscript: best grand prix I have seen in years: no Schumacher procession, no Vettel orchestrated win, just good clean racing at the front between Rosberg and Hamilton, brilliant...

Julian, Superb work, as usual! One historical point, I think the star on the wings of aircraft still had the red dot center in April 1942, and they were painted over sometime after the Doolittle raid.

April 11th update:
Still fitting catwalks, now around the flightdeck. Support beams for the flight deck are painted and the aft beams have been glued in now. Forward elevator has been fitted, I shortened the supports so that it looks like the lift is in transit. First of several washes has been added over the base paint scheme: mahogany stain dusted and sprayed with flightdeck blue stain and a light grey surround:

The island will need some shims to make it fit in the correct location, seems rather squashed at the moment

Inspirational work !
On the question of the flight deck would it be possible/desirable to have a cut away over the hanger space as per the technical drawings you see.
I will never be able to do one . . . . I simply haven't got the space

Cheers Kev

The "shower screen" plastic deck seem to be a rather senseless experiment as it doesn't provide a view into the hangar bay and would appear to be only designed to let some light through. I am more and more convinced that treating it like normal plastic and doing a full paint job is the way to go here.

Hi Kev, we discussed this a couple of weeks ago but then in regards to a Vosper with full scratch built internals and in my case Airfix's new 1/24th Typhoon. I won't be adding any cut aways here for two reasons: I want to add the full load of 16 B-25's and for that I need about two thirds of the flight deck and secondly the idea is rather intimidating on a model this expensive and I am not sure I can pull it off in a convincing manner.
Where to put it when finished? I really haven't a clue

   It is huge and heavy.

or the money
Hi Bruce,
It is the most expensive model I have ever bought leaving all aftermarket goodies out of the equation. If I do add after market articles the Bismarck and Arizona were equally expensive and the Vosper along with the Revell Fletcher came in close as well.

Great stuff Julian,
Have always liked flight deck elevators posed "in transit", gives another dimension to the model, and gives another view into the hanger.
Keep up the good stuff.

Looking Great Julian!!
I wish I could do a model that size, but my wife would kill me since we have no room in our house now as it is! I told her it would make a great mantel piece. I've been paying for it ever since.
Excellent job!

Great job on the Hanger Julian,
like the subtle weathering on the deck.
I reckon with the doors open, I reckon you will get enough light to see the aircraft and the detail to give realistic depth with the deck painted. From the pics you have shown of the deck, the only point I can see of leaving it clear would be to let light in.
My thoughts mate, but it is your build.
Keep up the good work,

Really, the final cost of every big ship of these that so much we like they end up by being a madness!!!

I do not stop understanding his doubt with the flightdeck, my English is average. But I support what you decide!!!
