The wheelhouses look different to me, but then again I'm getting older and my eyesite is not what it was!

May 24th update:

50 shades of grey
Adding AAA now after having made the deck a permanent part of the hull. Island still proceeding nicely and the crane is fitted. Coming in on finals now on this build.

Julian sorry but have to say again that is Stunning your build is making me want to build my kit sooooner but will have to see what you do first to copy that is the biggest accolade I can give.

I seem to have finally got Mrs Duster used to the idea of Hood in 1/200th coming to live with us, now I think I am going to have bring her round to the ide of one of these joining her.

Thanks Simon, the 16 B-25's should be a very impressive sight.
After building 3 of these 1/200 monsters the only bait I will take now will be a Rodney or a Nelson, however much I love the look and lines of the Hood. I will closely follow your build of the Hood if you decide to do a blog though
All methods to get a 1/200 Hornet past "the better half" are legitimate, I can personally recommend an overnight visit to a 2 star restaurant, works a treat

Hi Michael, thank you, the "Mighty Mo" as hand baggage will be a challenge too I would check that out before you buy it because the boxes are big and heavy which might boost your initial purchasing price.

I sincerely hope Lewis keeps it together and kicks Rosberg's b**t today. Maybe Rosberg couldn't help going off but he made damn sure that Lewis would be plooked by reversing back towards the track.

And he did ! A spectacular 3rd spot for Ricciardo in what was an otherwise lackluster Grand Prix. The German commentary on RTL was enough to make you puke, Nico this, Nico that all the way until the German won. Lewis had better get his a** in gear because I have a nasty feeling that Mercedes want "Eine von uns" to win,(German car, engine and driver).

Well, well, I am not getting engaged in this Grand Prix discussion - didn't watch anyway. I was following that with enthusiasm some years ago, than for some reason stopped watching and never picked the habit up again.
On the RTL commentary - it was awful even than, better turned the sound down. For the other idea - German Engine, German Car, German Driver...why not? No, seriously, I don't know either of todays driver enough to have a serious opinion.

However, I do have an opinion on your Hornet, Julian, and that is just 'awesome all the way!!' Fantastic work, watching with amazement!!

I am not convinced yet with the bridge - sure enough they are no twins, but close enough to have been built on the same bases.

Looking forward to the next update, she is coming along really nice!!!

when you first mentioned the similarity of the bridges on the Fletcher's and the Hornet I thought it might be very possible they were a standard design. Having taken a closer look at the bridges on the models I am less convinced. No one seems to be able to provide better information on the design though, I was rather hoping our resident USN expert Tracy White would have chipped in on this subject.
My apologies for blowing steam off about the Grand Prix, that RTL commentary really had my blood boiling. I'll take your advice and turn the sound down in future

After very successfully melting the forward windbreak on the Hornet with my hairdryer the update for today has been postponed
Sorry, got carried away with the blast heat drying an oil wash.
Just like the 6 million dollar man though: we can rebuild him, we have the technology
Sheesh, really screwed this up

You were there" tactics will work. (got away with that on not quite so substantial stuff, but this.. Nah)

Sorry to hear about the windbreak, speaking as the arch loser of parts, it is surprising what can be scratchbuilt when you put your mind to it.

Don't think the bad memory trick will work with a box this size Simon. Restoration work going okay, trimming plastic and nearly amputated 1 fingertip, great fun

Thanks Russell, getting there Was rather depressing seeing the windbreak bend over all droopy
That Ricciardo is quite a cool customer, he seems to be getting the new Red Bull to sit up and do tricks for him.
