Thank you so much for the kind words guys!

My mojo seems to be kicking back in with this one now (after a loooonnnggg haul through pre work) and if I can get all those small fiddly bits done soon, I hope to see completion some time Jan/Feb next year! Cross your fingers!

A special shout out to all our Kiwi cousins across the "ditch" in this time of heartache. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Hi Everyone!

This photo doesn't look like much, but it's a collection of what I was going to paint in order to finalize assembly of the superstructure.

Unfortunately my father in law finally passed away and my wife has had to fly home for the funeral, which means I must look after our children: there can not be any painting, since the man cave is off limits.
So instead I will try to concentrate on more components ready for paint and bring you more progress as I proceed.

Once again, thanks for looking, and for sticking with me for so long...

Sorry for your loss Russ. My condolences to your wife and your family on the passing of her father.

With that, looks like a small pile of PE is all that stands between you and getting this one to the finish line! Best of luck once you get the green light to get back into the cave!

Hi Russ,

my condolences to you and your family. I am very sorry to hear about your loss.

Maybe doing a little work on the shipyard - even outside man cave - helps; it does for me most of the time!

Russ, my thoughts are with you and your family, very sorry to hear of the loss of your father-in-law.

As we discussed in the 56th thread, the time frame isn't the most important thing here.

I will join you in raising a glass.

Cheers, D

Merry Christmas Everyone!

No update today but rest assured progress has been made, but nothing noteworthy enough for pics at this time.

Instead I'd just like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

May there be plenty of polystyrene under your tree!

The dockyard workers have taken their leave for the holidays and will return to work early in the New Year with plans to finish the Prinz towards the end of February! All being well, of course

Russ,

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you as well, mate!!

I hope the dockyard workers can enjoy their break and will return to their jobs with new energy in January - it's about the same thing here...

I'm looking forward to see your Prinz progressing and commissioning next year!!

Happy New Year Everybody!

I hope you all had a good Christmas and New Year's and the man in the red suit brought you lots of styrene related products!

Well the dock yard workers had a nice break and now are back at it.

So here we are ready for more paint before the big assemble!

First up I present my technique for prepping all the PE I wish to paint on the fret.

This way I can just paint what I need, and then if there's going to be any spares left at the end of the build I don't need to worry about what colour I've oversprayed on them

Next up the "main event"

Yes, that's correct, in 1941, the fore and aft most turrets had no ladders on their left hand sides.

Catapult

Secondary armament

Ladders

Reels and searchlights

the Northstar search lights are very nice

I also built up the Arado float plane so I would know where to position the catapult cradle

The black is where I've pre-painted the interior before assembly. Can I say that this 'clear plastic' business is just awful to work with? Cos it is!

I also built up the spare Arado even though there's no PE for it as I will tuck that away in the hangar, and you'll just see its nose

A peeping Arado perhaps

Thanks for looking everyone!

I like those invisible little planes, think of what a great weapon that would be against the allied navies.

Great organized assembly line action going on here. Fun to watch and very clean.

Keep the factory moving on,

Hi Russ!

I missed your update on the Prinz - - !! Now idea how that could happen, but it did.

And what a great update, your workers have been really busy! Great work mate, fantastic details I really love all your small stuff and the armament!!
And yes, the clear plastic is terrible to work with! So that's a great job on the Arado. Peep tail Arado - well, that reminds me...peep tail Walri That's quite some time ago...

Cheers,
Jan
