 Hi Russ,
Great update! he is really coming together. I am confident you will find your way around the TT issue.
Aircraft in hangers is fun, never found one yet that really fits all the way (except the semi walrus on the old Airfix HMS Belfast.
Cheers

 Russ,
It is looking very sharp. Your patience has paid off so far. I don't envy you with those "made to measure" railings, always becomes a fiddly job, though you really should have expected it with this kit

cheers

Huge update,
She looks formidable, both as a warship and as a build. Is therre something else on the Prinz you can do instead of PE for a while to rest your eyes and patience?
I was able to fit a SH-60 into the hanger on the Rueben James, but I scratch built the hanger to fit, so its cheating.
Keep cruising, will be watching,
Bryan

... I believe the crew had to drop the railing before swinging the tubes around for launching.

Maybe you could cut the locator piece off the torpedo mount and attach the mount to its base slightly off center, further inboard, to clear the rails? The cheat wouldn't be all that visible because it is at the base and behind the safety rails...

Hi Russ!
First of all, that's really a beauty you are building there, mate!! All your work and patience is really paying off now, seeing her taking shape really proofs that it was worth it!!
Your issues with the railings in general are annoying, I know what you are talking about, but you will overcome it. More difficult to me seems the issue with the torpedo tubes - Tim's idea sounds good to me, but from the way those launchers are designed, I am not sure if you can so easily install the 'off center'?! Maybe if you try to remove some material from the inside of the TT base with a sharp knife, so they move just a fraction of a mm inside. It's hard to guess from your pictures how much they need to move. Another option would possibly be to swing them outside as if ready for action, and hence omitting the railing in this area. But that would not be in line with the rest of your model in some way...hard call...
Well sorry to hear about the peep tail Arado, but than again it proofs that those birds in general don't fit in their hangars in 1/350 scale...my peep tail Walrus just went in because there was room for two side by side. No way to fit it in a single hangar...
I keep my fingers crossed for a solution for your TT's!!
Cheers,
Jan
It's been a slog that's for sure, but, there's light at the end of the tunnel!

 Hi Russell,
Some great work on your Prinz! haven't realized how much I've missed lately. You're making me want to drop all of my other projects and build a ship again!
Sorry about your torpedo problems. I hate to recommend filing and shaving them just enough to get the railings on. But since you've got them held on so well, you don't have many options.

 Hi Russ -
sorry that at the moment I can't be of any help...those references that could help are at my 'other place', and right now, after some very busy and intense real-life weeks, holiday has arrived (can I say caught my by surprise?? As surprisingly as Christmas sometimes, long planned but still doing everything last minute...)
So if your question is still not answered in four weeks, I might be able to help...

Cheers mate,
Jan

If you have decent drawings of the range finders I might model them up in CAD and put them up on shapeways for others who need them, if there's any interest?
