The Pontos set has much more details then the MK1 set... (although the MK1 set is fantastic!). More small stuff... but a bad instruction sheet

All steel decks painted in anthtrazit-grey... also primed the rest of the superstructure in dark grey.... then masked the decks ....








Then painted the superstructure in DKM50 silver-grey, then DKM50 variants... for some shadows and varians in the paint ...














... and put together.... without glue .) ...








... and the new anchor-chain before painting ... 3d-print ...



Next step.... masking and painting the white/black strpies at the superstructure......

*** UPDATE ***

Starting with the already painted white/black stripes on the hull I marked the position on the first floor of the superstructure... my starting point. With thin tape I started to mark the stripes up to the highest point....several tries... lot of masking tape later... the stripe was ok. Then I masked it left and right and painted the white color. Once dry I masked the white side and painted the black side......
Then the moment of truth.... I removed the tons of masking tape..... and put the parts together...... some smaller mistakes... oversprays.... corrections.... but all together it looked well i think With a brush i made the corrections ... then sprayed a layer of future on it to protect the colors befor further steps. also the weahtering will follow lot of time later ....
Then the last steps on the superstructure.... I added the wooden decks.....

Lot of PE-parts still missing... also lot of detail painting and other stuff... but this will come several time later ..... once the next two parts of the superstructure are also ready ... .)

That's it ..... (nothing glued together so far) ....

QUESTION TO THE ExPERTS: What do you think.... at the white/black stripes... the insides of the covers of the fans and portholes... are these also black or maybe still grey? What do you think?

Stripes look good.

Have found nothing on the Bismarck in reply to your question, but pictures of Lutzow and Prinz Eugen show the insides of the deadlights painted to match the Camouflage.

Where did you get the chain?

The chain is from "floating dry dock" in USA.... 3d print, very good quality. Available in 3 different sizes as I know (this is the smallest size).

Absolute fantastic!! Just stunning work!!

Your PE work on the funnel is amazing - but, having tried my hands on the baltic camouflage myself some years back - just Chapeau!! You did a brillant job there, I wish you the best of luck for the parts of the superstructure to come. But seeing your bridge, I have no doubt any longer that it all will look great in the end!

The hangars..... mostly finished and PE-parts added. The doors remain movable until I have decided if I would display it open or not....





The rear super structure was next step. Firstly the details of the kit removed... sanded.... and windows opened. Then all the PE-parts added.... several further details follow later after the painting ...

Wow Michael, A very clean and fast build!

Hangers looking great, the boat racks and their assorted walkways look very intricate.

The dark deck level picture at the end of the update is excellent, very atmospheric.

and here we go on ... a small update .... rear superstructure.... ready for painting ....







nxt... black primer... then grey.... then masking and the stripes.... *yepeeh*

**** UPDATE ****

Now we are working on the paint of the rear super structure...

First step again - a black primer (Valleyo black primer) to give it a homogeneous surface... The black primer als acts as a first kind of dark shadow under the later grey painting .....











After some drying time all the parts were painted in light grey - same grey as the super structure at the front .... I made 2 thin layers, still keeping the black primer shining through the grey... These are the first shadows in the surface, more coming later with the washings.






(the upper part of the funnel - still only black primer. Aluminium and smoke following later)





Next step.... Masking. With tons of masking tape, a ruler and more masking tape I started to mask the superstructure for painting the white and black stripes. Orientating at the stripes on the hull... Going up and up and up on the super structure. On the picture you see the masking for the white stripes. After painting the white stripes then I have masked it one more time and painted the black stripes too.











And here we have the finished and demasked super structure... After some correction works with a fine brush and all three colors......









And that's how it looks now... All put together .....










The next step.... Adding the wooden deck and the dark grey metal deck parts.... Then giving all a layer of clear coat (future - as already done on the front super structure), then starting with oil colors and dry brushing.... Then a final layer of clear coat matt.

So far for now ....
