More small etched detail going on.



The front of the bridge structure,



More small stuff, plus a larger structural section, the discolouration is because to get a smooth bend it annealed it.



A lit of detail to go on the hanger roofs,



But first moulded detail on the kit parts need removing.



Cleaned up and fitted.



The next job will be the funnel, whilst continuing to work round the shelterdeck. (Can't secure the Hanger roofs in place till the funnel is down.

She is moving on. The pontos set is great, I have to say it is the easiest etch I have handled, well defined folds and a great fit, very comprehensive as well.

at least 4 or 5 could sessions before that lump is ready for the airbrush.

Yesterday's progress.

Got as far as No.2 port 5.9" mount with the little bits.



supports on the underside of the funnel platform.



The railings around it. bravely etched as one piece by Pontos, with four hard corners and four curves, clumsily broken into four parts by me.



The forward stbd corner is on the workshop floor somewhere, if I find in time all well and good, if not I will find a replacement amongst my scrap etch.

The inboard boat racks on the hangers.



One outboard section on, I may have the middle piece slightly too far aft.

I am in awe of the amount of detail work going into this build. Layers of PE!

I bought this kit on the weekend very cheaply but seeing all the extra brass required may be not so cheap in the end

The Pontos set is quite extensive, but with the odd exception, quite friendly with a bit of planning.

The base kit is pretty good too, shame they don't do a set for the Tirpitz, I have that lanquishing in the loft.

There is the odd bit of brass, but it all fits exceptionally well, and apart from odd bits like long bendy bits of railing, and slightly crowded instructions it is an enjoyable set to use, and on a great base kit.

The destruction needed to the funnel cap, the base f the caps about 2.5mm thick, doesn't sound much till you have to cut through it.

Handrails gong on the section above the platform.



Have fixed the loose bit

Few more bits the front, and that is the funnel up the cap detailed.



Chain drilled the cap.



Left my fingers a little sore.

and the solid lump of plastic removed.



Will be a short hiatus, as work and one or two other things will keep me out of the workshop for text two weekends.

Got in the zone a bit on Sunday afternoon.

Displacement shouldn't be a problem, I am compensating by removing plastic, so her draft shouldn't be much different,

Back from hols, and back in the Zone.

Funnel cap cleaned up, and interior and brass rim fitted (nicely covers up all the damage done filing sanding and scraping).



Grill built up.



Last details going on the port side aft.



Gratings on the no.3 and 4 105mm mounts.



Ready for paint.

time to start destruction on the after superstructure, hanger front already done.



Splinter shields and boxes hacked off with side cutters,



Bit of scraping and filing, job done.



off at a tangent, gratings for the lower bridge deck sprayed.



Steel decks painted.



Wood decks fitted.



Test fitted on the hull, a few areas need some wash before gluing down. (and a little tidying up.)



Once that is done, maindeck, start at the bow and work aft.
