Nice work on the 20mm Si, must have tested your patience.
Hi Ned,
They can be interesting, but a good optivisor fine needle nose tweezers are a great help.
Thanks for looking in and your kind comment.
Cheers

looks like you'll catch the glacier before I do Si
You could be right Russ
I have to admit I had lost the love for this project a bit, but chatting to a mate of mine from IPMS Barnet at the Telford show re-inspired me. That and the purchase of an optivisor so I can see the bits of the single 20mm.
Cheers
Si
Mate, I don't know how you've done it without an optivisor so far.
Probably the most useful purchase I've made since restarting the hobby

Hi Russ,
I also wonder how I have this far without it, stupidity and refusal to accept my eyesight isn't quite as good as I thought it was, I would think.

Progress this week.
The main mast painted and fitted.
No flag lockers are provided in the kit, or the upgrade, so I used four left over lockers, painted wood brown.
Three out of the four fitted.
Rigging.
The mainmast done, except for a gaff that needs to be added later.
Cheers

Si,
Nice work with the mast and rigging. Those lockers were a nice addition. You would think they would supply lockers?

Hi Mark, I would have hoped so, but this was Pontos' first upgrade set, so I am inclined to be forgiving, especially since they have learned since then, and provide them. It was an easy fix too.
Thanks for looking in mate,

All I will say is... More rigging.
Done!
According to my to-do list on this one, anchors, admiral's walk, railings, jack and ensign staffs and radars to go, then the gaff and ensign, and she is done.
Cheers

Si,
Rigging looks great. It won't be long now until she is ready to join the fleet.

Si,
as Mark says, not long before she joins the fleet!! The grand old Lady looks mighty fine - and quite a bit of the old trusted copper wire rigging! Impressive!!

Thanks Ned,
Will arrange a shipyard shot. The fleet, that would take a bit of doing, maybe next time I am sorting out boxes to take a few to a show.

She is Russ,
This one has been a funny old build, hit a few issues along the way, mostly down to me, but for all that I am really pleased with the way she has come on.
Have really appreciated the support along the way.

Another headache on the final stretch.
The kit anchors, not very satisfactory, there appears to be no way to secure the shank to the flukes. also only two provided, when three required/
I have sourced North Star's British anchors as replacements, hopefully will be delivered early / mid next week. This is turning into a proper British built warship project, it will be delivered late and overbudget! (but not that badly overbudget)
Meantime, the "Admiral's walk", bent to shape.
and fitted.
The awning was sourced from the White Ensign fret. The kit appears to represent the ship around the time of Husky, when she was not serving as a Flagship, photograph of the ship at that time show the awning looking a bit shabby, I have tried to replicate that.
Hawse covers in place.
First railings on.
Forecastle deck level railings done.
Cheers.

Thanks Russ,
Appreciate your kind comment, she was on of the finest Battleships to come out of a British Yard. The original plan was to have her finished for Telford. Dependant on the delivery of the Anchors, I would hope to have her finished within the next week or so.
Cheers

Si,
Nice work on the Admiral's walk. How did those not get torn off the stern during rough seas.

Thanks Mark.
well the deck of the walk was a grating, open railings round the perimeter, the awning would be stowed. Guess the seas went straight through it. I don't doubt a few things got bent out of shape from time to time.

Very nicely etched, and the turned brass staffs do add something.
Just radars and anchors, and she will be ready for commissioning.

A fine finish for a great ship with such history. She will make a great show piece to your collection.
