Armed steam launches, including torpedo boats, whilst not universal were not uncommon in the pre-dreadnought era. (except in Imperial Russia, where it seems to have compulsory).
Go back to the 18th centaury, and swivel guns were commonly mounted on ships boats, usually the bigger launches when used as guard boats, for cutting out expeditions etc.

It did drop below 30 in London at the weekend, the only problem is, the night time temperature hasn't dropped as much.
Thanks again to Todd for donating the Master barrels to me, they do make a difference. I am going to have to invest in a set for my 1904 version of this fine lady.

Last weekend's progress.
The remaining four secondary turrets in place.
Also position of rear boats fixed.
The six Whalers painted.
Four of the whalers fitted on top of the cutters.
Anchors and other forecastle details in place.
The cables and anchor handling davits will go after the railing s right towards the end.
might get a bit done this weekend, but family stuff going on.

Then again... When it comes to rigging, there always seems to be a tensioned line that comes loose and causes great aggravation in getting the loose end back in place.

Also painted the pinnace funnels black, to hide the lack of hole, and save weathering.
Ladders and after railings down.
Main turrets fitted, now she really looks like Battleship.
Fore topmast fitted, rain stopped play on getting the mainmast sprayed.
More soon.

Hi Michael,
Just the mainmast to finish and fit, then the rigging, and that will be quite a job finally there a few external bits and pieces.
I think a very light wash would be a good idea, as the moulded detail is very good.

Got to rig her yet, and I reckon that will take nearly as long again, love these complex predread rigs
she will have an earlier version of herself joining the fleet at some time, but the next pre dread will be British, and looking like she was in 1915.

Insanity mate, my work bench is a permanent disorganised disaster area. The basic idea is lots of smallish plastic boxes with bits of each project in.
Occasionally I get things mixed up and temporarily misplace bits, but they usually turn up.
The upside is I always have something else to work on whilst glue or paint is drying, and quite often can airbrush bits of different projects in one go, saves time & airbrush cleaner!
