I will see if Starling Models has a set in stock, I have given up ordering direct from the Ukraine, can take several months for orders to arrive.
They do look a little short compared to photographs of the ship, but until I have some in my hands.

Si, You can have fun scratchbuilding them, but North Star Models produces a set of etch turnbuckles in 1/350 that look pretty good.
I used them on my 1/230 scale Olympia, thought they worked well.
Tim those items would be great if one just could find these #*+&§ turnbuckles somewhere but they seem nowhwere available these days. Northstar have them not available since ages 
Just had a quick check Thomas.
Not in stock on Starling's site, not North Star's either.
Oh well, back to scratchbuilding.

Still no joy with the turnbuckles, I have had several goes at scratchbuilding them, but nothing usable or easy to make in the numbers I need.
Meantime I have started on the boats.
The steam launch, the major kit parts.
a bit of destruction to be ready for the etch.
Etch going on.
Done.
Steam pinnace, the interior is a little bland, but I couldn't resist that tall tapered funnel.
The centreline cutter that sits behind the after funnel with the cradles fitted for the upper boat.
All three boats side by side.
More soon.

As for the turnbuckles I honestly wouldn't worry about them: I don't think your Mikasa would be lacking without them

particularly the big steam launch, that was a bit plain for 1/200th, I think there were about 30 pieces of etch on that one.
The chocks on top of the big pilling boat were an improvement on the kit parts, particularly the support beams that go right across the boat.

Might get some paint on them this weekend.
I get what you mean, but on the other hand I will know they are missing, especially as pontos provided turnbuckles as a part of the etched topmast rigging and the stays for net booms.
There has to be an easy way of doing them, I just haven't worked it out yet.

I managed to find some turnbuckles at Telford, alright they are not quite the right ones, but they are, looking at the photographs, about the right size. They are from Gaspatch, the metal ones design for 1/32nd scale aircraft.
This will give an idea of the size.
The first stay prepared for fitting.
Fitting under way.
More progress, wires going in place, this shows the stays crossing between the funnels, it was fun getting them in around the vents.
The aftermost stays in, with the centreline boat test fitted, that seams to work ok.
Hopefully will get some more done before too long.

The turnbuckles worked out rather well, nice clear holes in both ends, the real fun was bending the fine brass rod to make the shackles at the bottom end.

Did a bit on Sunday, finally found some time to sit and update the blog.
The forward funnel rigged.
Both funnels done.
close up of the front end of the fwd funnel.
The boats painted, and a wash put over the covers.
Lower boat in place, with the lashings, although they need a coat of paint yet.
Upper boat test fitted in place.
Next job, more boats, some railings and ladders.
