Si,
Nice progress with the PE. The railing looks great, nice paint work.
Mark
I agree with Mark - the admiral's walk looks very good. I like how the caprail has a horizontal dimension and actually looks like a wooden caprail!

Thank you Tim,
That is largely down to the etch, a nice groove is etched into the underside of caprail, this was very helpful in getting the curve on the railing right.
Appreciate you looking in.
Cheers

Hi Gaz,
The etched parts are really nice, not too fine that they are too fragile, but not overscale.
Appreciate you looking in Mate.

A bit more progress from last weekend.
The rigging for the gangway davits, as they come off the fret and folding.
Fitted to the boats.
The quarter boats going on, one in place, the second is being lined up.
All the boats on, one is uncovered and swung out as the duty seaboat.
The open gunports, fitted, I will admitted I am not 100% sure they were white, on the inside, but it feels right, your enemy can see you are there and ready to fight.
The Ensign staff under construction.
there is some interesting etched to be folded to make that.
painted and fitted.
An overview of where I am at,
Cheers

Thanks Russ,
to be fair, the kit is very good, and the Pontos add on helps, not quite your epic build of KGV, but we are almost 18 months to the day in on this one.
Always appreciate your comments Mate.

Thank you Jan, that is very kind of to say so.

Appreciate you looking Mate.

Work on the topmasts.
The lower yard arms prepped, the kit masts and in the upgrade, the lower yards are on the topmasts, in 1902 they were on the lower masts.
The mountings have been trimmed back to allow them to fit.
The etched topping lifts and foot ropes fitted.
Both yardarms fitted to the foremast, the Pontos yard arms look a little short for the 1902 fit, but not too bad.
The etched topmast stays, they looked quite tricky.
The first set fitted.
They sat on their mounts on the topmast just so.
The gaff fitted to the mainmast.
An overview, with the main topmast fitted.
Hope to get a bit further this weekend.
Cheers

Sweet. Really like how you can use wire for the rigging.

Thanks Mark,
The topmast stays are etched parts, very nice one's too. Tricky bit next, weaving the signal halyards through the lower mast stays.
Appreciate you looking in Mate,
Now I am off to the bench.

On with the rigging,
One thing I have learned from this process, rigging attachment points on the mast do need to be thought about in advance, some here look a bit clunky, as I hadn't.
The mainmast halyards, and my technique for making halyards.
The raw material.
straightened, the plastic rod will form the block at the head of the halyard.
Bending to shape and painting.
final measuring.
the final closing up and fitted, along with the flag halyard from the gaff.
The lifts for the gaff fitted.
The rigging between the masts going on.
Just the a few more lines to go on the yardarm tips, two forestays, and a line from topmast running down to the jackstaff, likely for suspending flags when the ship is dressed overall.
More soon.
Cheers

Si,
The rigging looks amazing, great work!
I can't agree more about having to plan ahead on rigging. I always try to build up and then out. Keeps me from knocking things off, which seems to be my best modeling ability.

Hi Tim,
Very kind of you to say so, I am not totally unhappy with the attachment points, well be a bit neater on the next one.
Thanks for looking in.
