Gold Medal Models announces the addition of two new useful and exciting Photo-Etch sets!

Photo-Etch specialists Gold Medal Models sends us News of two PE sets for the latest kit releases!

1/700 LEXINGTON/SARATOGA PE Set

The first production run of their all-new PE set (No. 700-32) for Trumpeter's 1/700 scale plastic kits of the Lexington (CV-2) and Saratoga (CV-3) has arrived and is now available. It features almost all of the elements of its 1/350 scale big brother (GMM No. 350-33) and is made from .003" stainless steel.

Included in this new PE set are a number of etched metal armor shields designed to fit the molded plastic 20mm Oerlikon guns included in Trumpeter's 1/700 scale kit. Modelers should be aware that Trumpeters Oerlikon cannon scale out to eight feet in height. Those wishing to incorporate guns mounts of a more appropriate height can either (A) slice off about 1/32" from the bottom of each plastic gun mount, or (B) replace them with GMM's 20mm Oerlikon cannon set (GMM No. 700-21) which stand a scale six feet in height and include closer to scale detailing.

Price is $14.00 plus the usual postage charge.


1/350 FLETCHER PE SET MODIFIED FOR TRUMPETER'S USS THE SULLIVANS!

GMM's popular No. 350-14 PE set for Tamiya's USS Fletcher has been modified and upgraded to include parts for Trumpeter's new "square bridge" USS The Sullivans in the same scale.

Whereas the original version of this PE set included two full sets of main deck rails for Tamiya's kit (one set with netting, the other without), the upgraded version now deletes the non-netted rails and substitutes a set of netted rails custom-sized to precisely fit the Trumpeter kit. A full set of brass chocks of the proper size and shape have also been added. The PE set will now offer a complete set of netted main deck railing for both kits, plus the standard rails for the upper decks that are featured in the current version.

Also included is a pair of custom-fitted railings for Trumpeter's "square bridge" pilot house roof - one with simulated canvas, the other without. The corresponding pair of rails for Tamiya's kit is still included.

In addition, refinements and/or improvements have also been made to fire control radars and inclined ladders. The instruction sheet has been modified accordingly and the artwork is at the printers now.
