NOTE: I was at the GMM website in 'The What's New Section' and did not notice the date of it was 10/10/13. Since we had no images of the set listed here at the time of its release I decided to leave the article up -it's a nice looking set. Sorry for the confusion.

The venerable Gold Medal Models has released a PE set for Academy's USS Indianapolis kit. It is also reportably usable for her sister ship, USS Portland, in her 1944-45 configuration.
Included in this set are:

-custom-fitted railing for the main decks plus ample railing in several styles for all remaining decks and platforms
- inclined and vertical ladders
- SK, SG, Mk. 3, Mk. 8, & Mk. 12 radars
- TDY & TDY-1 ECM antennas
- funnel cap grilles and detailed catwalks for both funnels
- details for 40mm Bofors guns; pre-shaped ready ammunition racks for all 40mm Bofors gun tubs
- armor shields and other details for single and dual 20mm Oerlikon cannon rails for 5" 25 cal. gun mounts
- see-through bottoms for all life rafts
- tiedown rigging for turret-mounted rafts
- life raft paddlescorrectly detailed replacement yardarms and see-through platforms for both masts
- watertight doors in open and closed positions
- cable reels in two sizes
- two detailed aircraft catapults
- crane boom and rigging
- accommodation ladders with davits
- rudders and manropes for ships' boats
- struts and propellers for two SOC Seagull seaplanes
- propellers for two SC-1 seaplanes

I just received this kit of the Indy, but I did not go for the GMM's PE. I really like their stuff, the fret is thicker and the parts are more robust, not as easy to deform. But I went with Pontos for this kit. But the fret does look great. Rick
