The good folks at Gold Medal Models have been real busy again and have announced another new photoetch set the1/350th Udaloy Photoetch set .This set will available in July and the retail price has yet to be advised.

We understand that this set is primarily designed for Trumpeter's Udaloy and Admiral Pantaleyev Russsian guided missile destroyer kits.

It is also designed to allow the modelshipwright to configure the Trumpeter kit into any version of the Russian Udaloy-class guided missile destroyers they desire.

The photetch set features includes:

  • Highly accurate replicas of all air search, surface search, and fire control radars carried by various ships of this class including the Top Plate, Strut Pair, Cross Sword, and Palm Frond radars;
  • Assorted ECM and direction finding antennas;
  • Deployed and folded helicopter rotors for two Kamov helicopters;
  • Details for the ship's boats;
  • Correctly configured helicopter landing pad nets & deck edge safety nets for both Udaloy and Admiral Pantaleyev kits;
  • Replacement platforms;
  • Support girders;
  • Topmasts & related details for both masts;
  • Replacement antenna towers;
  • Flag- and jack-staffs;
  • Rigging & hooks for the ship's crane;
  • Accommodation ladders;
  • Vertical & inclined ladders;
  • Bridge windshield wipers;
  • Detailed vent grilles for bulkheads;
  • Dedicated Russian-design railing complete with accurate turnbuckle detailing where required;
  • Illustrated instructions are included.

Gold Medal Models new 1/350th Gearing Photoetch set (GMM NO. 350-49) is also in the final design stages and is close to is now 99% complete. The ETA for completion is the 25th of June 2009.

Then you ask yourself what is next for Gold Medal Models after that? It looks like the folks at Gold Medal Models do not rest on their laurels as we understand that after the Gearing set is completed work will then commence on the Photoetch set for Trumpeter's 1/350 Repulse and then followed by their 1/350 Russian missile cruiser Slava.
