Next Years Projects! - Loads for the LC's

Hi Guys,
Fair point, I'd agree. Doubt I could scratch the 40/50 odd I'd need and so far no one makes British ones. That said I'll give it some thought.
During the landings by 48 RM, due to the late start, rough seas and strong current, quite a few slipped off the landing ladders, and were drowned. Carrying so much kit they had little chance of staying afloat, even the LCs were driven side on to the beach area, this wasn't a smooth landing by any means. Most actually came off LCIs and the landing ramps simply floated about in the sea as the tide had come in during the period they should have landed,
and this casued a lot of chaos. To add to their misery, a MG bunker on the LHS of the landing area had been missed by the initial Canadian assault and poured a continuous stream of fire across the exposed boats, wounding and killing quite a few more. The beach obstacles that should have been exposed by low tide did further damage to the incoming boats. Not a text book landing and no charging up the beach here, most struggled to to make it the few yards on to the shore line, the highwater being much deeper than what they expected to encounter at low tide.
Anyway, re the life preservers we shall see if anything might be done.
Cheers

Hi Guys,
Well stated work on the side loads, have added some ammo boxes and the stretchers and boxes are under construction. Have added a Bren using the carrier mount, still need legs and painted. I have also added the medic as it seemed appropriate if I have the stretchers on the side, and switched one of the NCOs for a Marine to give the troops a better balance.
Anyway some pics.

Hi Bruce,
Thanks, at a suggestion form another modeller I'll probably switch the boxes on the stretchers to something lighter, maybe add them to the other side.
Thanks for the feedback.

Hi folks,
Well the troops are about done!!! lol, lol. What you see isn't exactly what you get as these were taken indoors with the flash, there being no sign of a let up in the miserable weather we have been having, but you'll get the idea although not the true colour of the build.
The boat
The troops
The troops on board
I Have still a 3rd crewman to add, was thinking of using the U Models kneeling seaman with a helmet. I'll probably end up repainting all the faces as I not too happy about them.
Anyway, on with the deep wading bren and more Comman dos for the LCM 3.
Cheers

Hi Alan
It looks terribly good!
I like the action you have put in this! Apart from what I have been telling you about the good work you have been doing on ALL Landing Craft, I must add that I enjoyed your note and attention to details that sometimes the AFV guys let go, like fixing the "cargo" with ropes
Also a couple of small advices:
- You are still in time to give a spray coat of dull coat on the figurines! The shininess on the uniforms is unnatural (sorry but I had to tell you - I would hate to see a lot of good work "ruined" by this small detail).
- Weather a little bit the red cross signs - they contrast greatly with the rest of the box
Keep up - you're almost there
Skipper

Hi Skipper,
Thanks for the feedback, much appreciated. Never used dull coat, but I'll investigate it. The shinny effect is mainly caused by the flash, but I'll check it out.
Resicast have some food boxes and biscuit tins as accessories so I will probably add a few more stores under the benches. The troops are on bluetec feet so moving them is not a problem.
Would have liked to have taken some natural light pics but the weather is foul. Good thoughjs on the Rex Xs.
Looking a bit more busy than before.
Cheers

Hi Bruce,
Yip there wil have to be some wounded, maybe someone getting swept away by the tide!!
Kenny,
Thanks for your support, these seem to have been about for a long time - but it's a skill development thing, leaning as I go and adding a bit more as both skill nd money allow. I think I may have found a perfect base for around 50p but a bit of negoiation is required lol, lol. Exactly where I'll put it is another matter!!!
Cheers

Hi Guys,
Got a quick opportunity between the wind and rain to get some slightly better pics. Light wasn't perfect but these give a slightly better representation of how things looks so far:
The Skipper is from Japanese Armour King with a Hornet Head. I've tried to show him with the long water proof jacket that they wore!
Cheers

Alan,
You should try WEM Colourcoats - Matt Varnish
It's a very good one, you just have to dilute it half/half and airbrush the all thing
This dilution ratio will make:
- Good spray
- Prevent any fog or snowing caused by overload of Matt Varnish
Hope this helps
Skipper
PS: Diluting ratios tip for good airbrushing
Matt paint 2/3 - solvent 1/3
Gloss paint 1/2 - solvent 1/2
Varnishes (gloss/matt) 1/2 - solvent 1/2
Future Floor Polish - direct
Matt Varnishes should NOT be paint brushed, as it will make some areas with more varnish, making them whitish... (almost similar to CA fogging)
Hope this helps you (and others) - sorry if redundant info

Hi Skipper,
Thanks for that. I thought you knew I hand paint everything, afraid I don't own an airbrush but if I ever do then that's money in the bank as they say.
I'm going to try some stuff from Vallejo, that Derek recommended, on a figure and see how that works out.
Thanks again.
Cheers

Hi Kenny,
Cheers mate, the next 5 or 6 Commandos for the back of the LCM 3 are underway any I hope to get a start on the carrier soon.
Graham at Resicast has just brought out some British Compo Boxes and Biscuit Tins so I will add a few more stores under and on the seats of the LCA.
