Hi Glenn,
Still floating around the sites, SMW, Mil Mod and the LEM and the odd post on IPMS here.
These are the boats for the Nan Red project we spoke about. The figures have been sitting around since last summer or before in various states, I decided to try and get some of them finished, if such a thing is possible, and get at least 2 of the original boats completed. Some new skills and thinking and of course money, has allowed me to develop them a bit more, although most were built just as infantry to start with, so basically they all need re-done lol, lol.
I finally managed to get new tracks for my carriers from Graham at Resicast so I'm about to make a start on the deep wading Bren Carriers, but 'Murphy's Law' strikes as usual as he has just upgraded the conversions so I shall have to see if I go with the old or the new lol, lol.
At least some of the figures are finally getting a home

.
Cheers
Al

Hi Bruce,
Figures are almost done, some helmets to add to the packs and I've started work on some general stores and kit, but the last lead strap has been added I hope lol, lol.
Have you seen the new RN Chaps from 'wee friends'? More good stuff from Pete Morton, via Ian at Friendshiop Models The signaller was my secret item and the commander is a plus and might turn up in the wheel house if he fits the scene.
With luck I'll make a start on the carrier by Sunday, although I want to add a few boxes into the LCA first.
Still one step closer to adding the flag pole lol, lol.
Cheers
Al

Hi guys,
This is the first of the stores and supplies for the back of the LCM 3.
Edit: I should have stated this is one option the other being a pile of shapes covered by a tarp.

Hi Alan
I really enjoyed the bunch of guys you managed to gather and populate the crafts!

I prefer the cargo not "tarped" and also it would be interesting to have the driver for the Carrier to be "caught" sitting in it's place (or climbing the carrier coming from the rear of the LCM).
It is taking a very good sense of action and the sailor with the Flag would make another good point of view (attracts the viewer)
The Wee Commander, I would experiment, just to see how it would look in the general picture... It is a "small scene" after all
Cheers
Skipper

Hi Skipper,
Thanks for the feedback. Re the carrier, this is not the one, as it will be a deep wading job. The co-driver had to stand up and look over the curtain to tell the driver where to go. My plan is to have him watching the RN chap for the go signal with the driver looking up to see what''s going on. There will be one or two crewmen in the back, I believe, they got in and pulled up the skirt otherwise it would have been a difficult job to climb on board but not 100% sure, they may have been excellent high jumpers
Have to wait and see about the Wee Models figures as they are not released yet. The signaller will fit in well and I can try out the Commander and see which works best, Chap with the bike is coming on!!! Note the small space for him in the LCM!!
I've tried to get all the soldiers to be interacting in some way, I think they work pretty well together, considering the limited choice of 2 kits in plastic and a few odd bods to stock the boats.
Only another 30 or so troops to go lol, lol.
Cheers
Al

Nice stuff Alan.
Tell that one chap with the mine detector that it would work better if he wasn't standing beside those big metal objects.

Hi Guys,
Well this should be the last of the RM for the LCM. One man and his bike
This is my representation of the BSA Standard Bicycle, specifications:
Type 28 x 1/3/4
Brakes actioned by rods, ball and socket joints lol, lol.
I've converted the Tamiya German cycle as best I could. Brakes are a bit wonky. Moved the pump, added the brakes and rods, mud guard suppports and some nuts. Altered the carrying rack and added the supports.
It's had a coat of dark green, poor pic but you'll get the idea. Altered the infantrymans arm to fit the bike.

The fun never ends!!!
Cheers

Very, Nice so far. I just had two thoughts. One was after I saw a picture of LCI-L's unloading their human cargo on to Nan White and The men were following a guide line up to the beach:
My other thought was regarding the two RM's standing by the wheelhouse of the LCM-3 I don't know how heavy the resistance was, but from a safety point of view they are pretty big targets, Though with everything else going on I guess it doesn't matter all that much.
Anyhow Looks great.

Hi Matt,
Thanks for the pic. Yip that though had occurred to me. 48 RM Commando landed in the second wave, the seas were rough and there was still opposition from an MG bunker on the port side of the boats which caused quite a lot of damage. The strong seas also wrecked havoc with the LCIs and many were drowned.
Whilst the landing is the inspiration for the build it would be impossible to recreate it as no LCIs are available and even if they were cost and space would dictate otherwise.
I have a fall back option should I use a bunker in the form of 2 kneeling soldiers with a radio (the Resicast set) and it would only be a case of switching a couple of figs, ie the RM wireless operator to the LCA and the two standing figs to inside the well.
Thanks for the thoughts much appreciated.
Cheers

Acuatually my thought was about the guide ropes not the LCIs. How far in could the LCMs and the LCAs get?
