Hi Bruce,

Have you any pics of RN LCM 3's? It would seem odd to me if they were not marked/numbered on the rear of the wheel house as this would be the only way a Commander could monitor his boats once they had launched. The LCA has marking on the stern so I would surmise the same could be true for the LCM and the wheelhouse would be the most readable place to put a number.

Cheers

Al

Hi Kenny,
Thanks, there is a lot in these builds that's for sure lol, lol.

I've started on the second carrier and will work on the stowage for the 1st one over the coming days.

Some pics of the work so far. I'm using Resicasts, New Wading set for this one(thanks Graham). There are some differences in so much as you need to cut the protaction rails off on the two sides and rear of the carrier. Also as I'm using one of their new stowage sets you need to cut off and sand down the supporting ribs for the rear tool box , as for obvious reasons it's not required.

Some pics.

While I was in the mood I finally got started on the stowage for one of the Bedford Trucks for the Pier dio too. This is the Accurate Armour set. There is a lot of work involved in removing the plug it sits on, and I broke a couple of petrol can handles on the way in the ensuing fight but despite the poor pic I'm really pleased with the way it has worked out.

This was another job that had been sitting for well over a year lol, lol.

Cheers

Hi Alan

Sorry for the late reply, but I was sick for some days...
I really like the Aldis lamp guy and I think that the painting scheme you opted looks dead on!
As for the numbers on the back panel of the LCM - it would be interesting, but double check it first

The cargo load is very neat - actually is a little bit messy
Perhaps it should be better stored? (I know that it is a resin AM part)
;)

The new carrier is starting to look (also) good
Keep up
Skipper

Hi Brruce,

Thanks for that it will be interesting to see. The image on W at W shows for a split second as troops load into an LCM and I can't get it to freeze frame on that exact moment but there is a number there lol lol.

Hi Skipper,

Many thanks on the feedback on the Signaller, much appreciated.

Hope you are feeling a bit better.

Know what you mean about the stowage being a bit messy but hopefully it will look the part in the truck under the half open tarp. We shall see lol, lol.

Cheers

Hi Bruce,

Thanks for all your efforts. I'm thinking of doing a black or red stripe on the rear of the wheelhouse with white numbering on top!!

Hi Bruce,

Thanks, I'll try and find a colour pic to decide on the black or red, but I think it will lift the whole back of the boat. A partial tarp over the oil drums is still on the cards, when I get to it.

Cheers

hello Alan,
i think that red would stand out better for command and control.but it is your build,so what ever looks better to you is what counts.

hello Alan,
the US used white numbers and a white line on the back for C&C.with most LC being US,i think that you might want to use that on your LC.
what do you think?
cheers,

Hi Bruce,

Thanks mate. I'm fine thanks, working on the comander for the 1st carrier and the crew and finishing bits for the 2nd one, Don't you just hate painting faces lol, lol I didn't post pics of the second carrier as it's mainly armour and I though you guys would have had enough. I haven't done anything about the numbers on the wheelhouse yet or the trap, still a lot of small pieces to get righ on No 2.

I did make a start on 2 policemen for the Pier dio though lol, lol.

Thanks again.

Sort of reminds me of the scene in “The Longest Day” with the beach master and the carrier. Then he smacks it with his walking stick. All you need is Sean Conery and you’re there.

Very nice!!!

So that's here you've been hiding Alan - I was wondering why I didn't see any new messages about your Pier diorama, but well, I won't have to have a look further -so okay I could have search a bit but honest, i don't have the time i used to have anymore to check at forums like I used to
Great "load for the LC" certainly your Bren carrier looks good with the extra armour and all, but what about the global scene? did you buy the wooden base for starters?

Hi jba,

Thanks for dropping in. I was just over on you web site taking in the builds, inspiring and thoughtful stuff.

Yip I'm still plodding away, the 2 carriers are almost done and 2 of the boats have had a touch up.

On the ground work, I have the boards but have recently aquired an excellent table to mount them on (for 50p lol, lol) I just have to pick it up and bring it home. It should allow me to enlarge the base slightly which would be good, but I have to get it back home and get out the measuring tape lol, lol as the original boards were cut for a smaller table.

I'be been giving a lot of thought to how I'll construct it and have been thinking about building it in sections that lock together for ease of movement and transport if necessary. Not settled on a plan one way or another but it would be more practical if I could do it that way providing the sections fit. More thought required me thinks.

I don't have as much time now as I used to, but things are moving on slowly across a number of areas and I'm n no rush as there is a lot to do and a lot to learn along the way.

Hope all is well with you all, and your dios are safely out of reach of small hands lol, lol.

Keep up the great work it's inspiring to view.

Cheers

Al
