I know it's a long time away from starting but here are the hulks from my "shelf of shame."

They consist of:

The Glencoe 1/48 scale Coast Guard Lifeboat from the No Guns Allowed campaign.

She only needs the crew to be painted, the mast to be rigged, and final weathering to be done. Hopefully she'll be done pretty soon after the campaign starts.

The Tamiya 1/700 USS Indianapolis from the Unsung Sisters Campaign.

I've got the P.E. set for this kit, but I got pretty frustrated working with such a small scale. I'll probably just finish regular construction and weathering and leave it at that.

The Airfix 1/600 HMS Warspite from the Dreadnought campaign.

My plan for her is to put her pretty much as is in a picture frame with caulk water effect to represent her as she was when she had run aground off Prussian Cove on the way to the breakers.

Last, but not least, the Trumpeter 1/350 HMS Hood that I began some time ago.

I've got a long way to go on her in order to do this great ship even slight justice. She'll take the longest.

Hi Bruce
count me in! I will enlist... I have three candidates:

The MSW Community build USS Kidd - got creamed on the last month of the contest (actually, the week after), when the shelf on top of my bench came crashing on it.

Samuel Adams - for the Modern Tin Cans GB

Revell PT 109 - yep, my first WIP/GB, never finished it!

Will post pics on the weekend

cheers
James

Well what the heck.

I have a 1/72 PT boat that's gathering dust (literally) that I could start back up on.

Should i clean the dust off f it before taking the pictures or is that a no no?

Ahoy all,
After a long period of absence, I am now back on MSW.
This campaign is just perfect as I have a couple of projects
that were left floating around in the "sea of nothingness". It
will be great to start them up again.
I plan to complete my Airfix E boat project and possibly my
U-35 conversion in 1:125 scale.
Thanks, Bruce, for this great campaign as it is just the right motivation
that I needed!
So please count me in on this, I look forward to June 1st.
Cheers to all,
Have a great day and happy modeling!

Hello All,
Welcome all of you to the campaign.
Please remember to take at least 1 photo of your build before you start.
Now all I need is for someone to make the ribbon. Any takers?
Cheers,
Bruce

Hello All,
@ Paul,
Welcome to the wet side of modeling and to the campaign.
@ Steve,
Is your Hipper started and for some reason you did not finish it? If so, Welcome to the campaign. Remember you must have a before photo before you start.

Greetings!

And I thought I was the only one who didn't finish his models!

I'm hoping that this group build will encourage me to finally finish up the USS Wyoming (BM-10). It's a great little ship and I love working on her, but the lack of time, not to mention a workbench, has prolonged this build.

Many thanks for this group!!!

Hello Joe,
I wonder what it looks like small as the official ribbons are? Can you shrink it down?
Looks good to me if you can see the details when it is smaller.
I know that the U.S. Navy have a flag/sign/etc. for the drydock area, But I have no idea what it is. Any idea's about using them or from any other navy that has one?
Thanks for your design,
Cheers,
Bruce

Hello Joe,
Looks great to me, I think we now have an official ribbon.
Does anyone have any objections to this ribbon? I like the way all the colors stand out and It would look great in your profiles.
Thanks for the ribbon,
Cheers,
Bruce

Count me in on this one.

My Drydock shelf.

I am going to get back into the ISW HMS Hesperus, I bought the kit at Telford about 4 yrs ago, 2nd hand, still sealed. To be honest I was not that impressed, there were quike a few issues with warped parts, air bubbles, and incompletely moulded componants. I decided to use the model as an experiment in waterlining a resin hull.

Got the lower hull off fine, then things started to go a bit wrong. even after a wipe over with a degreaser & a cuple of wahes in warm soapy water I had issues with paint sticking.

persivered (The Camo needs another touch up yet) but then after being dead flat the hull started to develope a slight banana. At that point I got fed up with it and put it on the to do shelf.

This campaign has pushed me into having a bash at getting it finished.

I will be using White Ensign's G/H class etch.

Here is the current status of the model.

She is going to take some work to get finished in good order.

But will see what I cam do.

Have a great day,

Hey Joe, NICE ribbon, mate!

BUT, there are some restrictions on the type/size of ribbons that our software will accept for upload...as follows:

Image must be 50 pixels wide by 20 pixels high ribbon-style awards. Max file size: 1000 bytes

Can you re-work this file and send it to me?

Cheers,
~Gunny

Ahoy Mark,
I think the problem is that the first
is a Jpeg and too heavy even in its small size.

here is a Gif version

Thanks Joe, but she's still way too heavy, mate...this image memory is using 2K, and the ribbon upload software will only accept images up to 1000 bytes...we may need to re-design with less of a color pallet. I'm going to see if I can work it down some in size without effecting the integrity of your original image...
