Charles, the slat came as PE frets, one piece each the slat on the rear door, one the right side and one the left side including the front part. Joins to the hull had to be bent and glued with super glue. Quite a fiddling .

Hi Julian
The Airwing is looking good, like all the little touches of colour, like the forklift.
Great work

Thank you very much Simon, it looks a bit better now doesn't it? I'll be adding some crewmen this weekend. Also getting the wiring to get the Leds going, (I hope ). I have also added an extra set of deck vehicles so there will be a couple more tow tractors and a forklift added before closing everything up.

January 27th update:
Micro crewmen and a tow tractor fitted. That's about all the progress that has been made this week:

Next some wiring and bringing things together.
Cheers,
Julian

Astonishing, I must say, Julian. Really looking good, I especially like the CH-46 or "Phrog". Did you use KA PE rotors with it? How did you cope with the single rotor blades?

Hi Daniel, yes, KA PE rotors on the "Not a Chinook" No problem at all Daniel, Bent a gentle curve into the blades before glueing them to the hubs. The hangar looks busy enough to me now so Its time to get things fitted into the hull, (hopefully with some illumination).

Looking good Julian.
Have you found out the name of the "Not A Chinook" yet? I made one in 1/72 scale about 3 decades ago. Airfix back then as that was about all that was available..
How times have changed.

Certainly did, it will remain a "not a chinook " for the rest of this build though

I rather Daniels name for the little bug as well

Cheers,
Julian

My planning has gone slightly pear shaped. I had planned to get soldering this weekend but I realised in time I would runto some problems if I install everything inside now. At the moment I am working on the outer hull before installing everything.
A small warning to all the other LHD builders in the forum: the decals for the Lcu's are horribly off register so I would suggest a quick check.
Cheers

Julian, the build is looking great! How are you running the wiring for the LEDs? Are they battery powered or do you have a transformer?

Hi Thomas, through the lower hull and then around the vehicle bay and well deck, up to the hangar bay and from there back down to the lower hull and out through the stand. Idea is to solder the led's in series. Power supply by a transformer. That is why I had to do some work on the hull first. Just hope it all works

Cool. I may copy your idea for LEDs when I finally get around to building my Wasp. I am working on a Nimitz class carrier right now and am using luminous film for lighting the hangar bay.

Small update:
While waiting for the hull to dry I had a go at one of the LCU's:

Nearly finished this little ship. some odds and ends and of course it's load.
Cheers,
Julian

Hi Julian,
Hanger bay looks good, the figures and vehicles add a real touch of depth and life.
The LCU has a nice level of detail, looks like a kit in it's own right.
great job
Si

Cheers.

February 5th update:
after replanning the build I have been fitting all the catwalks, platforms etc. on the hull sides. The Wasp is looking a bit like a dog's dinner at the moment. I sprayed the catwalks this after noon, (temperature is up to 0 centigrade at the moment after a stunning -18 centigrade yesterday morning. Also fitted the MOB boat, so after some masking I can spray the haze grey hull sides and fit the innards at long last:

cheers,
Julian

Thanks Daniel,
It really needs a coat of Haze Grey at the moment

Watch out when you get to fitting the MOB boat, the PE straps supplied were either too short or I fitted them wrong
Had to remove them and replace them with thin evergreen strip. Hope the temperayure goes up a bit so I can do some spraying on the Wasp

Hi there Daniel, thank you sir ! I would love to see what you with your great talent could make of this model. The LCU and LCAC are small models in their own right. It is a fantastic model and the first one evr I would consider building a second time to get everything right
