Speaking of airwings, I think either the CH-53 is too small or the Osprey is way too big Julian. The CH-53 is over 100 feet long whereas the Osprey is just over 50 feet long. The look about the same length in that picture.
I would also suggest you thoroughly test your electrics before assembling everything, just in case any 'gremlins' have snuck into the system..

Thanks Warren, that is a nice statistic to play around with. I'll get back on this one.
The electrics are going to be big fun, of that I am sure. I'll either blow it up or get plooked by a faulty Led
cheers mate,
Julian

It is indeed the Swiss Armed Forces or Swiss Army I'm serving annually as a conscript officer, Julian. There are people who would like us to be only a civil defence organisation, but we who serve do not . Our battalion's support company (comprising mortar platoons and a sniper unit) is at the moment helping out at the ski world cup in Adelboden and Wengen, the rest is training infantry basics. Next week will again be busy with a battalion size exercise.

But I'll try to finish the helos tomorrow and take some pics!

No slight intended Daniel, just wasn't aware of how the armed forces in Switzerland work, (in spite of having spent several great holidays there )

Now lets see, according to Wikipedia:
CH-53 length 27 meters which works out at about 7.7 cm in 1/350th scale.
Osprey length 17.5 meters which works out at about 5 cm in 1/350th scale.
GM/Revell/Trumpeter are spot on with their models of these aircraft.
Probably the camera angle

Some pics of mine:

The MH-60S is from the LCS kit, it received WEM rotors and a scratch-built FLIR.

The MH-60R is the LHD kit's SH-60K (I know, not correct... ) with WEM parts and also a scratch-built FLIR.

Pictures of the LCS' stern, including two MQ-8Bs.

The LCS.

I'll be in a bunker and/or with the recon platoon on the road the next few days.
Cheers

Beautiful work Daniel, maybe I can outsource my air wing to Switzerland
Did you mask the windows on the choppers or paint them with a dark colour?
Your USS Freedom is very eye catching too
Good luck in the bunkers, probably warmer than being on the road

Julian

Thanks Simon, I want to add at least one more chopper being towed toward one of the elevators and I think I will be press ganging some of Fujimi Japanese crewman I have left from the Haruna into US service.
I saw some pic's of a super detailed Lancaster by some gentleman from Greece that had Led's fitted to show of the inside of the fuselage and to simulate the H2s Radar. It isn't as bright as I expected but gave a magnificent effect, (still not sure what to expect inside the Wasp

Hey Julian! I painted the helo's windows with black paint, simply as that. Then some weathering with water-soluble paint. Goin' to improve that

Sounds like a better route to follow Daniel, I am not happy with the results I have achieved with my air wing yet so I will go crazy and experiment a bit, ( after ordering a couple of spare boxes of aircraft first I am not completely crazy)
Cheers,
Julian

Pardon for my presumption Julian!! In a photo that one sees of above it seemed to me that the painting liquidates and I cover some quadrants. Is it correct or a fault of fotografiá?? Julian is without intentions of being a nuisance. Regards and I congratulate for your 1000 post

You are not a nuisance Daniel, the idea of posting photos here is to get tips and pointers from other modellers. is this what you mean? the deck edge gratings/nets on the model of the USS Freedom posted here?

If you two are talking about my LCS pictures: I painted it's hull with different layers of different grays and aluminium paint sprayed through a template two achieve the "aluminium plating" effect.

Hi Daniel, I am not completely sure what Daniel means with "Grids" and which photos he means. I like the mottled effect on the hull, looks good. I have ordered an extra airwing and some extra deck equipment for the Wasp and the decals are underway from Canada. I am going to stop messing with masking liquid to preserve the "glass" windows and use your method of straight paint, ( which incidently also removes the need for the aircraft to be produced in transparent plastic completely).
Hows the outside temperature there in Switzerland? Have they had to send out a Saint Bernhard with a keg of Brandy around it's neck to save you yet?
cheers,
Julian

Thanks, Julian. My LCS painting technique has to be improved, though; it is still not perfect. Seems like you decided to follow my way by enlarging your airwing! I've even ordered another additional airwing set in the meantime. Most of the aircraft will receive WEM PE parts including interior, so I'm going to try the "clear" way and see if it works...

Today we do have nice weather, sunny but tempreatures below zero degree celsius, as we had in the past few days. It's beautiful but very cold through the night for the exercising troops. If I remember correctly the weather forecast we're going to have rain/snow beginning this evening. How about you?

We have just had 3 nights with very light frost and today it's back to rain, (lots of it ). Still, I'm not complaining
Cheers,
Julian
