and more metal-i hope you're going to reinforce the floor under the display case Mr Inman?
Not a problem Russell as it is a nice big concrete slab.
Cheers and thanks

Warren,
Amazing work on what is without a doubt a difficult task. The depth charge racks and all the supporting bling look incredible. Looking forward to seeing them mounted and ready for action.

The depth charge racks, despite the minor issue, look impressive, I reckon they will look more impressive full of charges and mounted.
Cheers.

Lets hope they come out OK in the end. They will certainly be heavy with lots of little diecast depth charges in them.
Thanks Si

Is there anybody out there who can help me to obtain some tins of Colourcoats RN10 RN White without being stuffed around? And don't mention Soverign Hobbies as they seem far more interested in protecting distributors rather than supplying we model builders. I say this as I have been waiting many months for the so-called Australian distributor to pull their digits out and order some paints only to be told the other day they have only just been made the distributor... ARGH!!!
Can anybody help?

and more metal, needles to say...
Nice one Warren - this one looks like considerably more work involved than the two pictures show!
Cheers,

Sorry Warren-don't have any in my stash at the mo. What about mixing some of your own?

Of course more metal... but surprisingly enough I mave finsihed with all the kits now. It is now down to lots of fiddly bits like pipe railings etc.
More pictures tomorrow.

I will just have to use the Lifecolor ones I have instead, but it is no where near as warm as the WEM colour.
Thanks for the thought though..

Hello all.
I am up to that part of the build which always seems to take the longest, the fiddly bits.
I have attached the depth charge rails and other paraphernalia and will take some pictures this afternoon (if I remember) but doing things like pipe rails etc are going to take a fair bit of fiddling around.
But you never know I may even finish it before the builds first anniversary..
Cheers

Another quick update..
First up a few of the rope reels for the dinghys in progress..
Next the dinghys themselves have progressed..
And lastly the depth charge rails in place..
That's all for the moment.
Cheers

Only the first anniversary Warren?
I should be so lucky as to achieve that with my builds

looking good. Looking forward to seeing more photos. I'm presently making a wooden ship, Endeavour, and its taking me a few years, because I keep getting distracted with other smaller projects!

The next longest of my builds would be the Akagi which only took 3 months or so. I am hoping to get this one finished well before the 12 months mark... which is sometime in June I believe... Gulp..

Wooden ship eh? (shudder) I have a few of those but have not plucked up the courage to start any of them. I am keeping well away from smaller projects as I know this one will never get finished if I get distracted. I have my doubts about the life rafts as it is..

Three months as the longest yet?!? Oh well...
Your dinghies look really great, Warren!!
And the depth charges in place non the less!!
Keep up your spirit, don't let anything distract you - I am very keen seeing you commissioning her! That would actually be the first 1/72 Flower with some aftermarket that I have seen been commissioned, I have seen several started in some build logs, but none finished yet!!
Cheers,

I have ascertained the the faint glow I saw at the end of the tunnel is actually the end of the build and not a huge freight train coming the other way..
Hope I can live up to your expectations Jan.

Hi Warren,
Depth charge racks look excellent in place, the boats are great too.
Are you going to wind some scale rope onto the reels?
Cheers

Si
I don't have any scale rope Si, but I am sure I will find some sort of material..
I got a fair bit done over the weekend, although you wouldn't know as much of it was very fiddly stuff like pipe railings etc. The wire rope ones should be a doddle compared to them!
And here are some of the rope railing stanchions painted..
Then I finished off the block and tackle assemblies for the dinghy stanchions. These are rather big dinghies at 16ft long and I assume very heavy as they are made of wood..
I also got the 'rope' grab lines around the dinghies done. I am hoping they will sag a little more realistically over time..
And that's it for now.
Cheers
Warren
