That is because a bunch of [auto-censored]s called Photobucket lured people into uploading their photos there, then all of a sudden tried to charge people money for them to use their own photos. I deleted my account etc and they have nothing of mine now. Would be too difficult to re-host them all again. Sorry but keep your eye out for my Ebook 'Building The 1/72 Matchbox Snowberry'.

Hi Russel and Sean.

Not hiding, just haven't been lurking in the forums after the Photobucket disaster.

Have been keeping busy with a USS Arizona I have almost finished. While try and blog my 1/200 HMS Rodney when I start it.

Cheers and thanks

Good to hear you're still on the tools Warren.

For a while there I thought you'd moved on to a 1:1 VW beetle

To be honest, I never liked the idea of photobucket. The concept of a "free" photo storage site never sat with me all that well. I always thought, if it's free, then what control would I have over the images I posted?

What PB did of course was essentially extortion and now they hold your images to ransom, while all your blogs are destroyed. Not to mention the prices PB are asking to re-enable links to images is downright unethical.

Anyways, I can't complain about the Kitmaker picture hosting-always there and under my control, without ads!

Hopefully you'll post up some pics on your Arizona, and it will be good to see you blog Rodney!

1:1 Beetle is finished for the moment. Have a 1:1 MGB now as well.

I am now not 100% sure if Rodney will be next as I have to get a load of paint in to get the correct colours for it's camo. May start the 1/200 Bismark or 1/200 Missouri in the meantime.

Cheers Russ

My vote goes to Missouri! Haven't seen one built up in 1/200 yet!

Given the acreage of the 1/200 kits, I thought you'd be buying in the 4litre cans from the local hardware shop

OK. I am surprised at the continuing popularity of this old blog.. Seeing most of the pictures got wiped out by the PB debacle I will try and continue on with my offkine version which will let people see all the photos missing from here. Not sure of all the details yet but I have to get all the photos out there somehow!

Just to give an idea of the scale of the project I am up to 353 pages in Word and I am only up to attaching the bridge to the deck!

Cheers

yep, we're hungry for more

Even if it's only to see where she's at now and up to completion

PS 353 pages? Sounds like a book to me

Hello everyone.

After spening a few days getting it all together I am finally at the clean-up stage.

The blog including all the photos comes out at 500 pages in Microsoft Word 2016. It is also a fairly large file which I don;t think many peoples email systems would take, over 164Meg in Word format, or 51Meg as a .PDF.

I want to make it as easy as possible and copy the file to USB drives to post to people if necessary.

If anyone is interested please give me a yell and I will work something out. I will also add all the photos in their original sizes for anybody requiring bigger, clearer photos.

Cheers

Hi Warren

Have you looked into Hightail?

It will allow you to send very large files over the net for free.

There's also Dropbox which will host your files but you may need to pay for that.

Of course, if you have a dedicated Network Attached Storage device, you can run your own web server, but that's a bit more tricky

If you get them up and running, let me know-it'd be a good read I reckon!

OK. Thanks for all that Russell. Problem is that Hightail etc all cost money. For what I would need on Hightail it would cost me $12 a month billed annually. If I was looking at making a squillion bucks out of the ebook it would be worth it, but I think a build Log on a 1/72 Snowberry might not generate enough money to cover even the first 12 months cost.

The tome comes out at 500 pages. I have priced cheap USB Thumbdrives and I reckon I can do the Drive, Blog and all the original photos as well for the princely sum of $15 in Australia. A bit more for the rest of the world as you would imagine.
